Unable to log-in to account with broken phone / bad sim card

My phone is not working - "no sim" even though there is a sim in it. I attempted to remove and activate an eSim but it requires a QR code that requires two-factor authentication via My Verizon. All push notifications and pins are apparently sent via SMS to my broken phone.
I cannot log-in to My Verizon to ask a question via chat support, get a QR code for an eSim, or request a sim card delivery, add a new line, order a new phone, pay a bill, because two-factor authentication is broken if your phone is broken.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Here's an idea - allow me to authenticate using my verified e-mail address instead of completely locking me out of my account when my phone breaks.
Is it that you want me to come into the store to try and sell me a new phone or unlimited plan?
Please help.

Hello, fixtwofactorauthentication, thanks for reaching out regarding the SIM error on your phone. What model phone are you currently using? Have you been able to power off your phone and remove the SIM card at all since this started happening? Does this make any difference?
