Sober2. thanks first and foremost for your service to our country 🙂 I hope you have a safe deployment, and lucking out and going somewhere interesting and exiciting. If you're planning on using the Military Supsend option we offer service personnel, your phone will be unlocked by that process. If you check out the Military Deployment section, it goes over what you need to know for the suspension. It also confirms under the first question, that your device is unlocked the next day after the suspension begins. So, if you set the suspension to begin on 9/1 it would be unlocked 9/2.
