Verizon refusing to do the $1000 credit AFTER I traded my phone in

Anyone else having an issue with Verizon screwing up your trade in when you went in store, then when it is traded in, telling you they’re only going to give you a gift card AFTER you traded the phone while sticking you with almost a $118 increase on your bill that you were assured in-store would NOT be applied once they received your phone? 

I was told the $1000 credit would be applied to my bill as soon as they received my phone, but now it looks like they’re giving me a gift card? I’m livid - I’ve been a 9 year customer with Verizon and this frustrates me. Especially since ATT is offering the same promo, probably won’t do this, and offers first net. If they can’t fix it I’m probably going to switch. Anyone else had this happen and if so, what did you do to resolve it, aside from paying the phone off and trading it in for an ATT phone to get the $1000 credit off via ATT
