Hello everyone. I've been a Verizon customer for about 14 years now, and just joined the community.
In those 14 years I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Verizon, which was only tarnished yesterday.
I call up a verizon store in my hometown and get connected to their remote customer service center. I wanted to upgrade to the new iphone 15 pro as my old iphone 11 was just, well, outdated and nearing obsolescence.
The rep informs me that I qualify for an 830 dollar trade in. Give the iphone 11 back, pay 10.23/m for 36 months to get the new iphone 15 pro MAX. Wow! What a good deal. I really felt special and that my loyalty to Verizon was paying off. It's one of the few companies who I've ever actually FELT loyalty to, instead of "cool, some nice discounts on stuff that's insanely overpriced anyway."
I get to the store and the sales rep informs me that, no, I don't qualify for the 830 dollar trade in, but he'll give me half that....
In order to qualify for the 830 dollar trade in I have to pay and extra 200/y for a higher level plan that, realistically, I don't really want/need.
They didn't have the Max's in stock except the one on display and ultimately I decided it was too big anyway. If I want a big screen, I'll buy an ipad.
In the end, I went ahead and upgraded the plan because the numbers evened out, and honestly I would've been cool with that ANYWAY, except that the customer service agent literally lied straight to my face to get me to walk through the door and buy a new phone.
It was both completely unnecessary and completely inappropriate behavior.
I would allow for human error except she confirmed it multiple times.
Anyway, I'm disappointed.
That's all.
Peace.
