major phone issues -credit not received

I was without service for ten days, my paid in full account was closed, and I had to change my long-time phone number to get service restored. It should all be documented in your records, as I spent the better part of 3 days with my local Verizon reps trying to get help. I am elderly and live alone on a fixed income. I engaged in a digital chat with Verizon trying to find a less expensive plan. I was told I could start a pre-paid plan with no interruption in service, keep my current phone and phone number, and that it would all happen seamlessly if I submitted $84.68 payment online (Oct. 30).  I did that, and when I woke up the next morning, I had no service. I immediately went to the Verizon store, and no one could actually explain how that happened, but, in the end, they admitted fault and agreed to refund the $84.68 and give me a $50 credit for my trouble. Neither has happened, but I had to change my number and be without service for 10 days, which was very stressful and could have proven to be life-threatening for me. Please check your notes and let me know if you need more information.  I have been a Verizon customer for over 8 years, and this incident has been traumatic and has changed my good opinion of Verizon. Please advise ASAP. Thank you.
