mimimum term service contract fee for subsidized phones

Initially thrilled to snag an iPhone 13 mini for what seemed like a steal at $149.99 through Verizon, my excitement quickly turned sour as hidden fees began to surface. Amidst the joy of scoring a $599.99 device at a fraction of the cost, the shadowy 'minimum term service contract' emerged, targeted specifically at 'subsidized smartphone lines.'

Adding insult to injury, I was slapped with a $35 upgrade fee, ultimately inflating the total cost well beyond the retail price. In the end, I'm set to fork out approximately $65 more than the phone's original value. It's a bitter pill to swallow.

This experience serves as a stark reminder to scrutinize every detail, especially the fine print, when dealing with carriers like Verizon. Their sleight of hand tactics underscore the importance of consumer vigilance. Frankly, I've been burned once, and I won't be returning to Verizon or any carrier for future phone purchases.

In the age of information, transparency should be non-negotiable. Customers deserve clarity and honesty, not hidden costs and manipulative maneuvers. Consider this a cautionary tale for anyone considering a phone purchase through Verizon or similar carriers. Buyer beware."

I learned the same hard lesson.  I bought three new phones from Verizon, and agreed to extend the contract on each line by two years.  I thought that was what gave you the discounted device price.  It does, but they don’t tell you about the $20 per month Minimum Term Service Contract fee on each line.  I called and complained, was transferred between several people.  I was told it was ‘in my contract’.  I asked for a copy of the contract.  They said it was given to me when I bought the phones.  I told them no it wasn’t; I bought the phones on the Verizon website.  Then they tried to route me to a local Verizon store; said they had my contract.  I asked why would they have my business plan contract when I have never set foot in their location?  Bottom line, never, ever, buy a device directly from Verizon.
