phone calls go directly to voicemail, no ringing

Since about a couple of weeks ago it appears I no longer receive phone calls and/or they all go directly to voicemail. but I get no voicemail announcement/indication. same with text messages now.

Also when I call people apparently they do not get my calls. Text messages seem to work until yesterday but today it appears that that has also stopped working. Perfect timing as I soon have to go on a extended business trip!

If this is not swiftly resolved I will have to change phone company.  I'm sick and tired of behemoth Verizon and its amateur haphazard but overpriced services.

I'm also not interested in some lengthy blah blah answers from Verizon "support" telling me how they understand how important it is that  my phone works and I can receive text message...and asking me again same questions again I already answered in this message.

Super annoyed.

Having your service start to act up just before an extended business trip is some added unecessary stress, dorcom. We are certainly here to help, and wouldn't want to see you leave us. Please be on the lookout for a private note from us so we can offer our assistance.

I had almost the exact same thing start up after having a Verizon phone and new account for less than a week. It took multiple trips into the store and hours online chatting with 'reps' only to be told that they 'forgot to toggle your account to be able to send and receive SMS messages. It's a known problem, sorry. whoops. all fixed."

As for the phone calls going straight to (non) voicemail - if you happen to have an iPhone, it seems that the issue started with the new iOS 17 update, and some phones updated to 'silence unknown callers' and therefore any number NOT in your contact list is automatically rejected and can not leave a voicemail.

You can switch that in your phone settings, not sure exactly where though.

It's all frustrating for sure. I hope your problem is fixed.
