$30 Upgrade Fee

I received my first monthly bill for the 2 yrs contract I just renewed with Verizon and there is a $30 upgrade fee caught me in suprise.  I called the customer svc rep and they told me this fee was implemented since April 2012.  And asked them what is the $30 is for, only answer I got is ATT, TMobile, and other big wireless company have been charging this fees and verizon just catching with the competitors.  They can't find a better explaination to me.  I told them the store where I got the phone from - (Stop N' Go Wireless  Address: 942 Broadway, NYC, NY) didn't told (even mentioning) me anything this charge at the time when I was at the store inquiring about the phone and plan.  So the customer supervisor (Ahmad) suggested me to go back the same store and ask the store rep to submit a claim for the $30 to be reimburse to me.

So, I went to the store and ask the same rep (his name is Sal) who helped me on the phone and the contract, and he claimed he did told me about the $30 upgrade fee on that day and there is no way that he won't mention it to me as this is his responsiblities to tell each of his custome.   At the same time, his supervisor ( woman) claimed they had been tell all their customer about this $30 upgrade fee, and they will NOT submit any claim form deemed there is not wrong doing from their part.  She claimed I was the only customer from their store complain about the not getting informed on the $30 upgrade fee.  I told her there is no proof that I am the ONLY customer from her store is making this complain.  And she said is her words against my words -  so this is customer services we now getting from verionzon wireless...   Knowing I will not get any where on the conversation with the store customer rep (Sal) and his supervisor.  I am hoping Verizon can do something about the $30 upgrade fee that is in my January bill.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a Verizon Wireless store where you purchased your phone. If it was, you would have had to pay the upgrade fee at the point of sale, not on your first bill after the upgrade.

Regardless, it is not Verizon Wireless which is claiming they told you about the upgrade at the store. I have been in several stores Verizon and 3rd party stores in the past several months and I have overheard several people being told about a $30 upgrade fee for Verizon. Verizon is not going to do anything additional for you than what they have already done. You will have to pay the $30 upgrade fee.

they may not waive the fee but you may have promotions that may help relive some of the charge also with the store being a 3rd party they have stated to me that they dont have to tell you about the fee because they are not the ones charging you for the fee it is Verizon but EVERYONE was notified about fee thru mail email or call

It maybe in the stores you visited that don't have to tell you about this new fee.  I called Verizon about it, and they told me it is the store's responsibility to inform their customer on this upgrade fee.  If they didn't do so, that where can file a claim for you to get $30 reimbursed.

I didn't received any form of communication about the new fee that Verizon started charging.
