Hello and welcome to the forum!   VGA is the lowest resolution camera (less than a full megapixel).   The more megapixels the better the image.   However, only to a point.   Too many megapixels can actually cause noise but so far camera megapixel ranges are pretty much between 1 and 5 which is fine.   Some higher megapixel cameras are coming and start to look for complaints about noise because the sensors in the cameras cannot handle high megapixels.    So in summary, so far we're ok where we are but in the not too distant future the complaints of noise in the images will start to arise.

Well...megapixels is another word for resolution =]  More resolution is always better.  However, as you know the lens on a camera isnt the best.  I'm sure you can expect canon cellphone some day with a nice optical zoom lens someday, but just not yet. The blurryness is really due to the awful plastic lens and poor camera...not to many mega pixels.  The higher res just makes the exploits how bad the  lens/camera processor is.

In regards to blurry images . . . I would like to add that what will really address this issue will be the arrival of Image Stabilization to cell phone cameras.   This feature is almost routinely found in most dedicated digital cameras and serves to cancel out the subtle hand movements (not subject movement) that most often are the cause of blurry images.   If blurry images were merely a function of a poor lens then every image should be blurry since every image is taken through the same poor lens.

The lenses in cell phone digital cameras are indeed not the best but they are capable of taking a blur free image.   It is those subtle hand movements that blur the image in most cases.   Personally, I'd like to see Image Stabilization come to cell phone cameras before we introduce any more megapixels because there is such a thing as "diminishing returns" where too many megapixels on a small sensor will indeed begin to introduce noise.

You are correct...forgot about that feature...lol. Yeah the need for image stabilization would be great. Eventually, we'll see fully functional cameras in phones in a year or so I bet.
