Caller ID taken over by my (gulp) dead mom????

When I use my Verizon cellphone to call a landline, suddenly my dead mother's name shows up! (Weirdly, it started the night I mentioned her in a storytelling performance onstage, and called my sister to tell her about it, so my sister saw my mom's name first...) My mother and I NEVER shared an account or a phone number, and 2 Verizon tech people have checked and her name is NOT anywhere on my account.

This has never happened beforeโ€”till now, the name has always come up as my own. Now it's happening on any landline I call! Is this a glitch with the "LIDB" or a message from the grave??? Help!!

Hello Ninasphere,

I would be concerned too if this had happened with my caller ID. We do offer a service which allows you to change the name of the caller ID when calling numbers that support it. It is called Share Name ID. It is a free feature and you can change the name to whatever you prefer. Here is a great link with details on how to get this set up: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-49073/

Someone you know may have changed it as a prank on you.

Hi, and thanks, but no one has my Verizon infoโ€”I'm not married, and I don't

have kids, and I've never given anyone access. Plus, the Verizon tech rep

looked in my info and my mother's name wasn't even listed at the same time

it was showing up on my caller ID...

Can you tell me what LIDB is? That's what everyone online seems to say

causes these kinds of glitches, but how does it work, do you know?

Thanks!

Nina

omg, I just had the same issue! My mom passed 12 years ago, never had a cell phone, was never on my account, never lived with me. Spooked me out! I only found out when a friend I called asked me who my moms name was on my caller I D! Verizon tech support tried but couldnโ€™t fix it

Happy Monday! Being on top of your service is crucial, especially if you are managing your Caller ID status. The last thing we want is to create a spooky experience. Please let us know if the Caller ID name was able to be updated.

Remember that you can always update your Caller ID info through your My Verizon by following the steps on this link: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-49073/.
