Is there a way to change how many rings or how long a caller must wait before the call goes into voicemail?
I have received complaints from customers that it takes too long.

It's set by the system at roughly 30 seconds and can't be changed. Sometimes using a different ringtone helps.

If anyone from Verizon ever reads any of these posts, maybe they could call AT & T and ask them how they can change this setting, since Verizon can't figure it out. This per Verizon "technical support".
