I got my galaxy watch4 yesterday, which i pre-ordered through VZW. Despite being on chat with support for over 4 hours last night, tiers 1 and 2 were unable to activate my watch on LTE. The Galaxy Wearable app says it is contacting my service provider, and then it says "can't setup your mobile plan".
Has anyone else successfully done this? Tier 3 support supposedly will call me back in a few days, but I don't have much faith considering Tier 2 support didn't understand that the watch has an eSIM and not a physical one.

@vzw_customer_support any update on your comment:
"Verizon Wireless is currently investigating this with the new models, and we'll have them all connecting properly as soon as possible."
When is this issue going to being resolved? Can't activate my Galaxy Watch 4 due to Verizon's IMEI database being outdated/incorrect. You are the only provider showing my watch's IMEI as a Google Pixel 5a device.

We apologize for the inconvenience, lenny007. There's no update on this issue with the new Galaxy Watch 4 at the moment.

Was having the same issues. Purchased my watch through Best Buy - and would not activate on Verizon's network. But mine is FINALLY working.
No one knows how to activate these watches and wasted hours of my time on hold or working with support Tier 1 support. Tier 2 seems to be the only ones that can fix the issue and activate the watch.
- Go into the Wear app and click Watch Settings, Mobile Plans
- You need a QR code to activate the watch... you might check out this site which seemed to actually get a plan for the watch added (Note my QR tip at the bottom of this message if you're not getting the option to scan a QR code)
https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-219147/
- If you get an error that the IMEI is invalid, call support and have Tier 2 add the IMEI to their systems. This might take them a day or two. Get your ticket number and hang onto it.
- Once the IMEI is valid and you have a plan, you might STILL need to talk to tier 2 to get the watch communicating on the network. My mobile plan was "active" in the app, but the watch still said it could only make emergency calls.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH TIER 1. Get a ticket open and escalated to Tier 2, they can make the watch active on the network.
QR TIP: If you don't get the option to scan a QR code - you might need to do this:
Open the Galaxy Wearables app
Hit the top left menu button and click "About Galaxy Wearable"
Tap the text at the top that says "Galaxy Wearable" about 5 times quickly to open the developer options
Tap "Test ESIM Feature"
Tap "Current QR TestMode : off" to turn it on.
You should now get the option to Scan a code in the Mobile Plan activation
Good Luck!

Been through chat twice. -> A waste of time gave IMEI and EID and they could not activate.
On the phone for the last hour and no activation and right now still on hold.

So I'm following up on my previous post.
I have been in chat twice, tier 1 support for 45 minutes, tier 1 support for 1 hour 45 minutes, tier 2 support for another 45 minutes.
The end result is this.
1. If your watch came directly from Samsung, it does not have the ESIM programming from Verizon
2. The system currently does not recognize auto programming or sending the ESIM data directly.
3. You need a QR code. (See the previous post).
4. If you are NOT using number share, the billing code for a standalone watch (Galaxy Watch 4) will not be compatible with exactly the same plan as a Galaxy Watch 3. Someone neglected or wasn't aware enough to add this device to make it compatible for a stand alone billing code.
5. Sine there is no billing code a database modification must be done and the billing code updated to be compatible with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The tier 2 person had to submit a form to get the database updated.
6. Now I need to wait two days, then call back to get a new QR code to program the ESIM and set up the billing plan.
I guess I took one for the team because once the standalone billing code is added the someone else with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (Black) won't have the same issue.
The IMEI was in the system and the watch was correctly identified. So Samsung did release the block of IMEI. Verizon did update them. The billing system does not fully recognize them for compatible plans.
Yikes!

2 hours and 40 min on line.
No one will even listen to what research is on this site. Must go step by step blindly saying watch bad then Samsung service proves them wrong and then escalates a ticket so that it can be processed.
QR no go, Mine started with could not replace my Palm Titanium and they tried to sell me on full plan for the watch and then see if can correct it so it is a shared line. No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then moved form Customer service to tier one. Told her that not going to be able to resolve and advised what I suspect it needs.
Then went through all the steps just to have to do what I read to her from on-line that was needed.
Now here is the challenge, at my residence I have limited LTE service so if my watch needs connectivity then not really possible/.
Problem 2 I am told that I need to turn my watch off and not use it until I hear from Technical Support and since it is a Friday then will most likely not be until Monday.
Then she tried to express the blame is on not purchasing from Verizon. I bought this direct from Samsung and with Verizon as selected service. Cannot share a number? Blaming on Samsung.
At 2.5 hours a call for every watch sold on Verizon and you have to go through Customer Support and Tier 1 just to get through this know issue with Verizon. I hope no one has a challenge they really need help on. A successful shipment of these out into the world and all Customer Support will stop due to inability to handle the volume.
Totally disappointed in this process and Verizon. $4000 a year between all the devices and can't get a watch to activate and don't have cell coverage at my house due to my location in rural Virginia. Just wow.
Ticket number ends in 2364 if someone wants to communicate with me and look it up.

20106, yes. Verizon competitors function but I have refused to change due to service quality in my travels. my time with Verizon started with a hard install in a new 1991 Acura Legend to tell you how long I have been a customer.
But still hate to actually get a product due to the challenges seem to always take forever to resolve. either a billing or a product activation issue.
I purchased a $300 repeater for my vehicles and that is the first time in 10 years I can talk to my house.

Tried the overide to get QR to function that they sent me.
No Go.
Successful in making the reader active but not any success in reading the QR
Seems so strange that they did not even instruct me to get the reader active to see the code. Just when it went through the process it said to call support.

I'm so done.
Done, done, done..........
A total of 8 hours on the phone.
Almost 4 hours today alone any nobody seems to be able to fix the stupid problem!!!!!!!!!!!
All I wanted to do was put my Galaxy Watch 4 on the line that had the Galaxy Watch 3 as a standalone device.
I think it's time to find a carrier that knows how to set up a watch.
I've been a customer since before there was a Verizon (GTE Mobilnet)

Now after spending yet another 2 hours on a support call; Verizon says that the Galaxy Watch 4 will not be supported as a standalone device.
What!!!!
So if you have a Galaxy Watch 3 you cannot replace that device if it's on a standalone plan with a Watch 4.
THERE IS NO TECHNICAL REASON WHY A WATCH 4 CANNOT FUNCTION AS A "STANDALONE" DEVICE. It has an eSIM.
And don't say number share. Verizon has made a policy decision that if the device is no one they sell, then number share is not possible.

Thank you SO much for this info. I have been trying to get my watch activated all week and neither myself nor support could figure out where to scan the QR code. This worked and it's now activated. You're a lifesaver.

What info worked? I just got the Watch 4 and the mobile plan option did not show up. Tapping on the mobile plan in the settings does nothing.

Support just told me the Watch 4 that I just got today doesn't support standalone mobile connectivity like LTE. Huh? They let me sign up for a separate mobile plan for the watch. For what? A mobile plan is for mobile connectivity that's not wifi or bluetooth.
My Watch 4 has no ICCID number and no phone number. But it has EID and IMEI codes.
The Wear app setup only had Skip on the "Set up a mobile plan" option. Verizon's Watch 4 setup page shows a mobile plan option that I don't see.
Tapping on the Mobile plan option in settings does nothing.
What Galaxy Watch 4 did they send me?
And last week i bought the Active 2 directly from Verizon online. The setup actually had Sprint as the only mobile plan option.
Is Verizon trying to tell us something?

Verizon has decided that the Galaxy Watch 4 isn't supported with a standalone plan option. The Active 2 and Galaxy Watch 3 have no issue with stand alone mode.
The Watch 4 doesn't have an issue either. Verizon made a business decision to only support number share with this watch.
I spent 10 hours on the phone with various levels of support and was initially told that it was a mistake and a billing code for standalone was omitted and would be added. Ultimately was told that the watch didn't support standalone which is why it wasn't added.
That is/was a lie. The watch supports it. Verizon doesn't support it. Verizon also doesn't say they don't support standalone until you go to activate.
Anyway, I'm irritated that Verizon only supports the device as number share but also doesn't support my OnePlus 9 Pro as number share capable.
