As an Uber driver in the Chicagoland area, the network coverage is absolutely horrible in both TNP staging lots for drivers. I understand that there are 100’s of drivers at the same time using their phones, but it seems Verizon gets it the worse. I wish they would built more towers nearby. You don’t know how many times I’ve lost potential rides due to the lack of k of service. When accepting, it will time out because there is no service.

Someone else posted recently that they were constantly having service issues on the west side of Chicago while riding the subway. These parking lots (?) where you are picking up rides, are you underground at the staging area? Because I'm guessing it is a concrete structure, which is already going to block cellular signal some, and if they've got you picking up rides from a basement area, not going to help.

Nope, these lots are outdoors, open air. These are directly next to O’Hare airport.

Wow. I'm shocked because airports typically have antennae mounted all around the property to make sure there's decent cellular coverage. Is your phone older, or your SIM/eSIM several years old? If you've got a phone which only runs on 4G or doesn't support all the 5G bands, it's time to upgrade. Another thing which can be problematic is if you're getting deprioritized on the towers. Unfortunately, cell phone service is often another one of those things where you get what you pay for.

I have the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max. I have spoken to a few drivers here to say the same with Verizon. And I know it has to do with the number of drivers in the lot, because when there are few, signal is fine, once we have a packed lot, signal is gone. Verizon needs to add towers to handle the demand during peak times.

Have you tried live chat to report the network issue? Since the problem only occurs when there is a lot of traffic on the towers, it's obviously a network congestion issue. If you have reported the problem to Verizon before, then it must surely be on their docket as a network improvement, but how long it will take before more towers are added, nobody knows. Your best bet may be to try another carrier.
