I just upgraded my phone and was surprised we were charged $35, the rep explained to me this was for the smooth transition to my new phone. I was REALLY surprised once I got to the Verizon store and the charged me $30 MORE to simply transfer my data. Verizon seems to be nickel and diming you more and more.

I get the data transfer fee of $30; have heard of that before, but why you were charged $35 when you upgraded your phone? Usually, that $35 is an activation fee, but because you already had an existing line and were simply changing out the phone used on the line, shouldn't they have NOT charged you an activation fee? @vzw_customer_support, any ideas?
Unless...the new phone also has a new number, in which case, it *is* subject to the $35 activation fee.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Hello, stephva21, thanks for reaching out about the fees you were assessed. When upgrading your phone, you will see a one-time $35 upgrade fee. As for the data transfer fee, I understand you visited a store location to have your data moved from one phone to another. What store location did you visit?
