Deteriorating Network Service

I have used Verizon Wireless as long as I have had a cell phone, I used to mock my friends who used Sprint and AT&T because my service always outperformed theirs. For years I lived in a very rural upstate NY area that had no cable but my Apple IPhone with Verizon service always gave me an internet connection even in the days of 3G. Also, I travelled extensively and Verizon was the best by far throughout the U.S. I t even worked on a cruise close to Alaska during a personal emergency.
No so anymore. Both my wife and I have Apple 13+ IPhones. Over the past few years we no longer can rely on our service to get internet access. As I sit at home in a suburb of Tampa Florida, zip code 33598, my phone flips between 1 and 2 bars LTE. On a recent trip to Destin FL, our internet access rarely worked.
If this level of service continues, we will switch to another service provider.

Hey, Bud45, we greatly appreciate your years of loyalty and are here to help with your service concern. You mentioned that you have 1-2 bars of service at home. Did you see more bars in the past? How are voice, text, and data services affected? Are you mostly concerned about your service at home or is service affected elsewhere?

No problems with phone and text, just data/internet. Problem both at home and when traveling.
when I worked during the 2000โs, I had a Verizon MIFI I used as a hot spot. I travelled all over the U.S. and almost always had a good data connection.
Today I travel for leisure. Last year we travelled from Florida to Maine to Central Virginia and back to Florida. Data service was spotty, not at all like I remembered during my work days.
I noticed other posts with similar problems and that is why I decided to post. Please note that we always make sure we update to the latest IOS version.

Bud45, I appreciate you sending those details. It sounds like you've been using it in lots of different locations. Also, based on what I can see, sounds like you're using the device indoors more often or not. Is this correct? If so, one thing to share is we can't always guarantee coverage while indoors. There are a lot of variables that can work in those situations. As an example, my home I have okay inside coverage, but my parent's house is just a few mins away I don't. So, if you can confirm where you're mostly seeing this happen that would be helpful.

I am having the same issue. I used to have 3-4 bars of signal in my home, and now it's down to 1 if anything. This degradation has occurred over the past 3 months. It is now virtually impossible to make calls using cellular service from my home. I am located in 55107/55118 ZIP areas.

Hey Bud45, thank you for letting us know more details about what is happening. It certainly sounds like we need to take a deeper look into this to find the root cause of the issue. Especially with Tampa as that's a pretty major city. Please be on the lookout of a private note from us.

Had the same issue at my house. Switched to AT&T and problem solved. I'm not wasting my time calling customer service at Verizon to explain why the phone has SOS/poor signal so they can turn on more 4G functionality in my area. 4G support should have never been turned off to being with.
