Email Added to a seperate account

So I received an email about a pending account change.  The name, phone, and account number is not my account.

I contacted support and they told me my email was added to a separate account. They put in a ticket but this is really concerning. The email I use is my own person domain that I own so it's not something someone could easily just enter by mistake. 

Has anyone come across this issue? Hoping it's a database issue and not the beginning of a bigger fraud attempt

Yes I've done all that an always have.

Most importantly want to try to understand what the motive can be or if I'm at risk of other fraud. 

I don't understand how or why Verizon could even allow an email to be associated with the login for a completely seperate account.

While there's a slim chance, it is still possible that another customer may have accidentally entered the wrong e-mail address, jst415. However, for your peace of mind, anytime that someone registers an e-mail address, a registration link is sent to the user via email or SMS to the device (depending on customer preference). This means that if it was sent by e-mail, you would be the only recipient of that e-mail registration, and only you would be able to authorize it.

 

Not only that, but in order to safeguard your account even more, if an email address is added to an account after activation, customers must wait 30 days to take advantage of the My Verizon registration through email process. 

Additionally, even if a customer’s email address is listed as an address of record, the option to use email is sometimes disabled due to fraud and security flags.
