Error creating Account List (Closed Subscriber Group) for CLOSED access

I received my LTE Network Extender today.  got it setup fairly quickly.  I logged into my Verizon account, and i can see it listed in my Devices.

I attempt to follow instructions here to update the Access Type from OPEN to CLOSED and create a Closed Subscriber Group, but no matter what  try i get an error when i try to add my number or any of the numbers in my verizon account to the list.

LTE Network Extender FAQs | Verizon Customer Support

I click MANAGE on the Network Extender.

Next to Access Type, currently OPEN, i choose EDIT, and select CLOSE and then click continue

Next step it prompt to give the list a name, I do and click Continue.

Now I have to add name/numbers to the list.

i enter a name for the first number. And enter my number (10-digits, no spaces, no dashes) and click ADD CONTACT

but i get error "the first number you add to the list must be from your account"

it is!  it's my number.

I did also try to add either of the other two numbers in my account. Same error.

I spent 45 mins on the phone with customer service who provided no help.

Welcome to the ongoing issue with Access Lists and the Verizon Website.  This has been ongoing for the past TWO years with no resolution by the Verizon IT team or whoever handles the website and/or the servers managing the extenders.  You can search this Forum and see all the reports of issues with no solutions.  As the extender needs a broadband internet connection, you might try using WiFi calling if your phone supports it.

Wifi calling has always been turned on. But that's not the issue.  The extender resolves the poor cell / dropped cell connection (so that's a plus)

Now I just want to limit the access to the extender.   I have seen the posts from other about issues with the access lists. Hoping a verizon rep might respond and shed some additional insight.

Maybe Verizon can at least update the online FAQ since their directions don't actually work.

In the meantime, while waiting for Verizon to respond/help, you can adjust the extender's signal strength that is generated. You can reduce it in the extender's admin page to cover your house/property only and not get to your neighbors/people driving/walking by.

As @jav6 stated you can limit the "Transmit Power" from the extender's local admin GUI page.

1. Press the button on the left side panel near the screen until you see an IP Address displayed.

2. From your computer that is connected to the same home network as the extender, type the IP address into the browser's URL bar and enter.

3. Now you should see a login page. The pw is LTEFemto0000 (with the zeros representing the last four of the MAC Address found on the back label or the screen).

4. Once logged in, from the left side menu select 'Settings' and then from the drop-down menu select 'Advanced'

5. Uncheck the box for 'Automatic Transit Power Mode' and use the slider bar to set the desired range and select 'Save'

I'm having the same issue and it's saying I have to have my number on the account added first which it is.  I was on the phone with a rep for a while and eventually he came back and said  he added my number to the device and to try to create the list again in a few hours to set up closed access.  He then said if it doesn't work to call back again.  Can you please help us get this fixed?  I don't want open access to using my broadband by connecting to the extender.  I live in an apt complex!

There isn't a way to make the Verizon extender closed access, at least for now.  Problem has been going on for a long time per another poster in this thread.  What you'll have to do is limit the range of your extender so your neighbors aren't getting free service and/or you potentially get throttled on data because other people ate up all your data allotment.

They really should find a way to edit the firmware to do this and not advertise that it does this when it doesn't...  What the range if I bring it down to 50% power.   I live in an apartment and people live through the walls around me.
