Free phone E mail that I ended up being charged for.

• I recived an E Mail several months ago from Verizon saying that phones ending in these four number were eligible for a free upgrade phone. The phone did need replaced so I contacted Verizon and got the deal.  Now I find out that I have been paying for it. They asked me if I have the E Mail.  I didn't  keep it they told me it was free when I set it up.    Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them?
