TMRoles,
Superb question. Usually you can block most calls with our Call & Message blocking feature http://vz.to/MqEgqB . But for international calls, you'll need to look into Family Base http://vz.to/1jGTfMO

Family Base does not do the job
call+SMS Filter available for my Nokia Lumia 822 window 8 WORKS GREAT and for FREE
This App blocks 10 digit numbers, 13 digit numbers, 4 digit numbers, 000-000-0000, 1234, Private, unknown, etc.
These solicitation calls from India only get to ring my phone ONCE...then blocked! FOR FREE!!!!!

I was able to block all the calls I want without paying Verizon another penny! I have Windows 8 and there is an app for that! Verizon does not value me as a customer and therefore I will sever the 10+ year relation this December when my current contracts are complete.

Verizon replied to you. So where did they not value you?
Personally Verizon cannot block calls coming in from other countries as a total lot. I know the plan add ons that Veriozn sent you to can block only up to 20 numbers. So yeah that was useless. But even that so called app will be useless.
Trust me there is an app for everything but will it work? That is the real question. test it. But it will cost money to ask your friend to call you unless you email.
Good Luck

Verizon does not value me as a customer because they would not assist me with getting the blocks done. The services Verizon offered, "Family Base" does not block what I and many, many, many, more verizon customers need. The APP is working GREAT! In the 1st two days it blocked over 25 unwanted solicitations from India. It blocked "unknown", Private, 1234, 123456789566, 000-000-0000, and other 10 digit numbers! NOKIA has done a fabulous job with the developement of their APP. Verizon could block these calls but is not willing to do so and in the process try to sell me a product that wouldn't work.

So... I blocked a call. They called back with the number "1" in front of the number and the blockheads at Verizon let the call come through. They have the most elaborate softwar to tacks every single thing I do on my phone andthey cannot determine someone calling with a 1 in front of the number isn't international. What a disgustingbunch of money grubbing people.

Hi TMRoles,
10 years of loyalty is awesome, and we would never want to see you go! I am so elated to hear that you were able to find an application to block the International calls. The application Market is a great resource when customizing your device.
Thanks,

Oh, splendid! You would never want to see a customer go after 10 years of loyalty. Is that what it takes? Have I just not been a customer long enough for anyone to give two spits about MY issue?

I understand that, however with all due respect to your knowledge, you are not a representative of Verizon Wireless and here we have a representative telling a customer how they would hate to see them go after 10 years of loyalty. So I ask a fair question to a VERIZON representative. At what point of loyalty do they actually start to care? What is the minimum amount of time I need to be funneling $200+ per month to the company before they "care" if I walk. Evidently 4 years isn't long enough. Is 5? 7? Just curious.

You are under a misconception that any length of time matters. I have over 25+ years with them long before the name change. I am just one customer out of 120 Million. That is all, I am not entitled to any perks or reductions in price or extra services or secret society membership.
They are giving canned responses. They really don't care but people are very gullible and if someone says "Hey your the best customer we have and we want you to stay, its for the MONEY"
They are replying from a script. We have to realize we are but a number. Sort of like Patrick McGoohan as the Prisoner Series as number 6.
We are free to leave at anytime.
Good Luck

I realize this is an Old Post but I found this question unanswered while trying to find the answer for my wife's phone. the solution is extremely simple. you just download an app called "hiya". While you're setting it up select no when asked about international calls. Problem solved. Don't expect the Verizon forum to help you with anything really. "Hiya" also has one heck of a block feature: blocking all unwanted calls, all unwanted texts, known spammers, etc. so far it is the nicest call blocker I have used out of about 20 different ones that I have tried. I'm not exaggerating. I sell on craigslist for a living. I get hundreds of spam calls and texts every week of my life. Family base by verizon is a joke.
