How can I permanently turn off call waiting? I had it turned off on my previous phone and now that I have a new one it's back again. Last time, I turned it off on the myverizon web site, but I can't find a way to do it again,

Thanks.

You can only disable it per call by dialing *70 then the number you are calling.

I have heard conflicting reports on removing it permanently.

If you want call waiting disabled permanently, that can only be done by calling customer service and asking for the call waiting feature to be removed from your line. You cannot do this yourself. Can I disable call waiting during incoming calls? | Comunidad de Verizon Wireless

However, I have also heard this: Unfortunately Call Waiting would be a standard feature with all our lines of service. While we would be able to remove it temporarily our system will re-add the feature as an essential feature after a period of 24 hours How Do I Disable My Call Waiting On My iPhone 6 Plus? This is the most annoying feature.  There's nothing worse than having a conversation interrupted by a lot of beeping.  I've had conversations interrupted multiple times.  It's rude to the person you're talking to as well.  No, I don't want to have to dial *70 before every call.  I wish I hadn't gotten a new phone because I was able to disable this feature on my old phone.  I'm thinking about returning the new phone if Verizon will take it back.  Who decides what is an "essential feauture"?
