How much do you hate Verizon Wireless?

I'm sorry, but I hate Verizon Wireless!  Why?

1.  They charge OUTRAGEOUS prices for their data that's overloaded and unreliable.

2. They claim they have sufficient 3G coverage, but in reality it's spotty and bounces between 2G and 3G so much that you can't use your data or mobile hotspot consistently.

3. They claim they have the best coverage around for talking, but cuts out for roaming in two separate places on my way to work (25 mile journey).

4. They lie on their coverage maps, and show no shades of signal strength like the other carriers do.

I see someone with Verizon Wireless and I scoff at them, "You have Verizon Wireless?  What the F--- for?"...ESPECIALLY if they live in a city where T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T are readily available.  I am speaking mostly of residents in the Omaha, Nebraska area who do not know anything else BUT Verizon.  THERE ARE OTHER CARRIERS OUT THERE!  USE THEM, PLEASE!  YOU WILL RECEIVE BETTER SERVICE!

If I could, I would picket in front of Verizon Wireless stores telling people to choose another carrier and claim how bad their service is.

I only have Verizon Wireless (me and my boyfriend PROUDLY use Sprint) because it's the only national carrier of choice (U.S. Cellular is only regional) that CLAIMS to work well in my hometown, and my dad, brother and his girlfriend use the phones.  When the contract expires, I'm soooo outta there!  Because I would rather have a carrier that roams in my town of residence than to have Verizon Wireless.  Verizon sickens me to no end.

Keep in mind that I'm only speaking on behalf of their coverage, NOT their customer service associates...because out of all the hate and anger I have with Verizon Wireless, the customer service associates are kind and courteous...I just wanted to clear that up.  My beef has nothing to do with them.

Does anyone else agree?  I hope some people do...

I rarely hear about dropped calls from verizon, but i hear them all them time on sprint. Slow data speeds? Sprint. Customer service that transfers you into oblivion? Sprint. Changes to your account without permission? Sprint. But hey, these stories are on every carrier.

I have had Verizon for years.  I have never had the first problem or complaint.  I now have a Droid Razr Maxx with 4G data and 4G hotspot feature.  I could not be happier with a cell provider unless it was free.

I'm still trying to figure out if you use Verizon or sprint? Or do you have 2 phones? I don't follow. Anyhow.....sorry they don't work well in your area. They're the only carrier that covers me in the desert. Love em. It would be nice if they were cheaper, but it would be nice if everything were cheaper. 10 years and I hot no gripes.....but I'd switch if they didn't cover my area and someone else did AND was cheaper. That's just common sense.

I currently have accounts with both carriers:  Me and the boyfriend use Sprint, and my dad, brother and his girlfriend have feature phones on Verizon.

When me and Ryan had smartphones on Verizon it was costing us $80 in data plans ($30 4GB Data + $20 Mobile hotspot and another $30 for his 2GB of data), but with Sprint, it's $129.99 for both phones to have Unlimited data, 1500 minutes and unlimited text.  Three feature phones that don't have data on them cost that much on Verizon...you do the math.

why do you have an account with verizon if your dad, brother, and his girlfriend are the 3 users? it still sounds to me like you don't even use verizon? if you're just the account holder but don't use any of the lines, then your dad can do an "assumption of liability." he takes over the contract and you don't have to concern yourself with it anymore.

Me? I've had both. I feel that sprint is only going to get worse because of the severe overload. I wish they would buy tmobile.

I'm sorry, but I hate Verizon Wireless!  Why? Hate is such a strong word.  Have I been displeased with them? Sure, especially when they SOLD my account to AT&T. Have I felt that they give me the coverage I need?  Definitely.

1.  They charge OUTRAGEOUS prices for their data that's overloaded and unreliable.  There are weak spot with every carrier.

2. They claim they have sufficient 3G coverage, but in reality it's spotty and bounces between 2G and 3G so much that you can't use your data or mobile hotspot consistently.  The coverage can also depend on the landscape around you.  Trees are great signal reducers.

3. They claim they have the best coverage around for talking, but cuts out for roaming in two separate places on my way to work (25 mile journey).  Again that depends on where you are at.  I see Omaha below.  There is an area south of Council Bluffs that Verizon doesn't have the spectrum for 3G there. They have starting covering it with 4G though.  I have only seen roaming around Omaha on the Nebraska side when they were converting the Alltel towers to Verizon SIDs.  When was the last time you updated your PRL?

4. They lie on their coverage maps, and show no shades of signal strength like the other carriers do.  So?  How do you know how accurate the other guys' maps are? If you have an Android phone, download the Sensorly map.  It show the signal strength.

T-Mobile might have some coverage here, but it mostly centered around the universities in Midtown (UNO and Creighton). They don't have any stores here unless you count the Best Buy stores.  Otherwise you will be roaming on AT&T in the city or Viaero Wireless at 2G speeds. Sprint works for the city and some areas outside, but any further and you are dropped to 1x or roaming on either Verizon or US Cellular.  If you are staying in the city all the time then AT&T will work.  Just not expect it to work at major sporting events (Husker games or CWS, etc.) or 2 miles outside of the city limits or it will drop like a rock to 2G and you will likely be also roaming on Viaero.  You won't know that you are roaming that to the way AT&T programs their SIM cards.  If you roam enough and use enoungh data while roaming you will get a letter from AT&T stating such and you better quit roaming or they will drop you.  I have seen it happen.

If I could, I would picket in front of Verizon Wireless stores telling people to choose another carrier and claim how bad their service is.

Keep in mind that I'm only speaking on behalf of their coverage, NOT their customer service associates...because out of all the hate and anger I have with Verizon Wireless, the customer service associates are kind and courteous...I just wanted to clear that up.  My beef has nothing to do with them.

I chose Verizon (formerly AirTouch) as my carrier of choice 12 years ago because they were the only ones to have coverage along my 9 hour travel path between Colorado and eastern Nebraska.  I have never regretted that choice.  They might be more expensive, but I pay it to get the coverage I need.

I have been a customer for around ten years on my dad's old account as well as my own and, despite the rare connectivity issue in girlfriends' apartments or in the depth of some larger stores, I have never had an issue. It is also worth mentioning that I travel to Omaha, NE often, as well as Lincoln, NE and, save a short span of distance between St. Joseph, MO and Nebraska City, I get coverage pretty much everywhere and it works as reliably and as fast as advertised. Continuing even further, not only do I get great coverage in Omaha and Lincoln, but I get 4G coverage virtually everywhere in those cities and most of the way out of them. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak.

I too have experienced that spot of low/no coverage between Nebraska City and St. Joe. It will be interesting to see if that changes when/if Verizon Wireless covers that area with 4G LTE and we switch to VoLTE for voice.

YES I HATE VERIZON

I actually like Verizon.  So far, I have no reason not to.  I may feel different the first time I have to pay full retail for a new phone.

4starcashier i hope you figure out that you are wasting your time ranting here about your bad experience with verizon. the apologists will shout you down like a yard dog. our opinion and experience means absolutely nothing to this company, and if you darre express yourself on this forum, you will be chastised to the fullest. i think that these forums should be for all of us to share experiences but as you should have noticed, the 'fixtures'  here will shame you without remorse. we are all in this situation because we have let our government  become operatives to large multinational corporations, so our outrage should be directed to congress and the fcc for what we have to bear.

1.) I pay $30 for unlimited data every month. How is that overpriced?

2.) like any carrier, there are spots where things work and things do not work.

3.) Again, it always depends on the location. In New York, there are spots that I know that do not have coverage are, I just stay away from those areas, or just know not to be on a call.

4.)  Are you talking about the voice coverage or their network coverage?

I have tried other carriers, and they always end up using Verizons network, so why should I pay another company to use Verizon's network? Besides, all my friends and family have Verizon, so it makes it cheaper to use.

I have used Verizon for 20+ years, and have been pleased with everything over the years.
