I have been called repeatedly for over a month from different numbers. Everytime it happens, if i answer there is nothing on the line, and if i don't no voicemail is left. If i immediately call the number back, I am connected to whomever it came from, but they never initiated a call to me.
There is no way to block these type of calls, because they come from different numbers. and since there is no voicemail or spam related to it, i can't be removed from a calling list.
Which leads me to believe it is a virus something out on the network initiating these calls.

Its probably telemarketers. This happens to me a bunch. Google the phone number that calls you and most times it will be a telemarketer, bill collector, etc. I have been getting calls from people wanting to sell me an extension on my cars warranty. I suggest getting something like google voice and using that free service to get another number from them and use that number for registering with businesses so its easier to block them.

The wierd part is, they aren't telemarketers. I've called the numbers
back and been connected to a church, a target and several random
individuals. The calls aren't being made from the devices or from the
owners of the accounts.

Unfortunately you made it on a "list" and it is being shared. It is not a network virus.

No, there is something with the network here. What people aren't realizing
is that these phone calls are not being made by the owners of the accounts,
or from the actual devices connected to the numbers. When i call the
numbers back, i have connected to a Target, a Church, several individuals
etc... none of them made the calls.

As Weth explained, someone is just spoofing those numbers. It's really no different than all the spam e-mails we all receive - very few of them are actually from the return address.

A lot of us get them. I just only answer calls from numbers I recognize. If I don't, then it goes to voice mail - most of these callers just hangup.

What I said is true, it is not a network problem. The people that are doing this are spoofing numbers, which is making a call look like it comes from a different number. It is, unfortunately, very Common. this is not anything new, you just have been lucky up to now.

Disagree. Same thing is happening to me and sometimes the real owner of the line is on at the same time treating me like I made the call to them. A third voice is sometimes audible in the background like a party line.

This just happened to me today. My phone received 4 calls in a row from one number. When I finally picked up, they had said I called them first. We were both extremely confused. When I looked at my call log online, only 2 of the 4 incoming calls showed, and the numbers were all zeroes rather than the number that showed on my caller ID

I had a weird experience today, I just got the edge, and wanted to try out the edge features so I had a friend from my contacts call me, and his number came up completely different, and from a different state. I have since had others call me and the same thing happens. The number is the same every time! 206 494 9999.... anyone else having this issue??

We're always here for support and want to get this resolved. To clarify, is the 206-494-9999 number appearing only when using the Edge feature?

No it shows up on the main screen as well, and it shows up for multiple different people calling me. If I answer the call it's still the correct person calling, but I don't usually answer numbers I don't know, and I really don't know what to do! I'm already in discussion with another Verizon helper, but they haven't responded in a while.

Exact same things started happening to me last night. I test it with 3 different people in CA. I had each of them call me (they are in my contact list) but their number shows up as (206)494-9999. I tried calling this number, and there appears to be a voicemail from a guy in Bellview WA who says it is a scam, and somehow associated with his number?
Please advise.

This appears to be also discussed on the below thread:
I have an Idaho 208 area code with Verizon and have received two calls from 206-494-9999. I've since found out that two contacts (in my contacts list) have tried to call me (they also have Idaho area code cell numbers, but with AT&T). Each time they have tried to call, 206-494-9999 shows up on my caller ID instead. I did not answer since I didn't recognize the phone number so have called these two contacts directly and had no issues. Not sure what is going on, but if this continues, I will not be able to actually receive any calls from people in my contact list since I'm not sure who is calling?
