Most likely. The process is called Line Number Portability (LNP) that allows you to transfer your number. Not all numbers are portable, however. The only certain way to know is to call VZW Customer Care to check.
If the number is portable, then you must not cancel the number with ATT. Once VZW ports the number in, ATT will automatically cancel it on their end. If you cancel it before VZW can port it in, then there is no number to port in. Also, you are obligated for any early termination fees from ATT for cancelling early and any outstanding charges.

Good info from cstrait001.
When you're ready to start the port process make sure you have your AT&T account number, billing address, billing password and the Account Owner's name. You'll need to provide that information to VZW so they can verify your account with AT&T. If all the information you provide is correct it helps make the process really smooth.

Unless you don't mind over paying for everything, stay where you are. With these new plans your going to be paying way to much. I am realizing all we are paying for are those **bleep** commercials and all of the extra people that appear in it. They do have great coverage, but whats the point if you can't really talk on it for fear of going over your minutes. On top of that, N&W do not start until 9PM. How many people you know want a call after 9PM. Good luck if you do come over

I so agree with Hondawoman. Verizon's service is not all that great, but the main thing is their customer service SUCKS!!!! I have had a problem that I have been trying to get solved for a while and it is just a circus. In fact I am opening a new business and it will be a cold day in Hades before I will open a small business account with Verizon. I would actually pay more to any other company just so I don't have to put up with Verizon!! Ask around, the customers will tell you. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW VERIZON HUH?? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!! What a JOKE!!!!
