In-store experience

  • I just had a disgusting experience with Verizon. I went into a store to add a line for my nephew and to take advantage of their free phone offer. I am aware I will be charged taxes and activation fees  so I know free isn't free. First the sales person tried to get me to buy a Google watch for my nephew as well and said it's 100% free. I said what's the catch he said no catch add another line and it's free. I pointed out another line wasn't free and he got annoyed. Then he told us our phone came with a bundle including charger, case, and screen protector. I said it's included with the free phone he said "yes when you pay the taxes it's included. So we go to pay and it comes to over $200. I ask how are the taxes $200 and he explains they are $130 or so. I ask what's the other $70+ and he says the bundle. I say wait you said it "was included" and he says yes I charge you and include it when you pay the taxes. Wow you ring everything up together like every other store on the planet? I point out that's not included or free and he says that he never said it was free. It was clear he was trained to do this and if I wasn't a person good with math I would have paid $120+ for stuff I can get on Amazon for $10.  To make matters worse once I said I'll just take the phone thanks, he didn't even set it up just handed me the box still packaged. Verizon if you don't agree with his methods either he or his manager should be terminated immediately.
