Is there a way to delete voicemail messages without calling in to retrieve them?

I have an annoying telemarketer on "all calls to voicemail" but when they leave a voicemail, I have to call in and retrieve it before I can delete it.  I have no desire to listen to it.  Ever.  But if I don't call in and retrieve it, all day long my phone keeps telling me I have a voicemail message.  Does anyone know of a way I can delete it without calling and retrieving it?  Thanks!!

There is no way with Verizon's basic voicemail.

This is where more information when asking a question is always helpful. We don't know what type of phone you have, so I will assume an android phone.

You can subscribe to a visual voicemail service such as Google Voice which has no charge. With this, you can install the app on your phone which will allow you to select the voicemail in question and delete it without ever listening to it.

Thanks.  Figured I'd have to pay extra.

When the message starts to play press the "3" key twice quickly on the dialer to get to the end of the message. Then you can delete it by pressing the "7" key. I think you can delete during playback, but I haven't tried it in a long time.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You can just press 7 as soon as the message starts. it's free

Actually it is press 7 twice. Then the voice automatically says message repeated. You can also press 9 twice to have it saved without listening to it.

Thanks for the responses, but I know how to delete a message.  I guess my question wasn't clear.  I was wondering if there was a way to delete it without calling in to my voicemail.  I know who it's from so I don't want to call *86 just to delete it.  I was hoping there was something I could tap or swipe it away.

I don't believe it can be done that way. On my iPhone I don't dial in and can just click delete.

On an android I don't believe so unless you have visual voice mail on the device.
