Dear Verizon.....
If you do not do something to reduce the monthly line access of $40 that I am paying on 3 phones per month, I will quickly be leaving after many years of service for a less expensive carrier. You are simply falling behind in the market for whatever reason that does not concern me as a customer. You have been put on notice as a consumer.
Sincerely,
Your valued "over-charged" customer

Agree, they don't care about individuals. But when a large group leaves, they will change their minds..

Simply go with the provider which provides you the service you want at the price you want.
While you like to point out the line access fee is high, simply moving around the price of portions of your bill while keeping the total the same does not equate to Verizon raising their prices.
For example, the line access for phones on my account jumped from $10 to $40 when Verizon switched to "Share Everything/More Everything" plans. People seem to forget that the minute/texting portion of the plan dropped dramatically at the same time, balancing out the overall cost. This has the effect of basically keeping the bill at the same level. It doesn't matter to me that they simply want to call a larger portion "line access" than what they used to call "line access". They are simply calling it something different but keeping the overall price the same. What does the name matter? If my bill had increased by increasing the "line access" fee, then I may have had a problem. As it is, though, with the overall bill remaining the same, it is simply a name change for a portion of the bill.
For example, before Share Everything my line access was a total of $40($10x4) for 4 lines(4 smartphones). Now it is $160($40x4) for 4 lines(2 smartphones/2 basic phones). So my line access fee has increased by $120. NOW take a look at the rest of my bill. Before Share Everything, the calling/texting/data portion of my bill was $180/month. That is $110/month for the calling/texting portion of the bill PLUS $70/month for 2 $30 data plans and 1 $10 data plan for the 4 lines. Now, that portion of my bill is $60/month. THIS portion of my bill has dropped by $120/month. That increase in the line access fee doesn't look so bad now. Keep in mind, I now have 4 smartphones instead of 2 smartphones/2 basic phones. If I had added those 2 smartphones before making the switch, my bill would have jumped by $50/month. My usage habits have not changed ONE BIT. I use the exact same amount of data as before and text the exact same amount. Now that I think about it, I may actually be making more calls than before.
Total bill before Share Everything, $220/month. After Share Everything, $220, and INCLUDES upgrading 2 basic phones to smartphones. Of course, this does not include any discounts and/or taxes/fees. Incidentally, the taxes have dropped. It seems that by changing things around, Verizon has been able to drop the amount of the bill that is taxable and THAT is a plus. My taxes have dropped by over $5/month.
Of course, your bill depends on your usage. For some, it will be better, not so much for others.

One slight correction in my ramblings from above. I actually DO use more data than before. With 4 smartphones instead of 2 smartphones/2 basic phones, I DO use a larger amount of combined data across all lines. However, my total monthly data cost HAS dropped by being able to share the data across all lines.
What I meant when saying "my usage habits have not changed ONE BIT" is that the data usage habits on the 2 smartphones I had previously have not changed ONE BIT. If anything, they have increased since I seem to be watching more Watch ESPN on my smartphone that before.

Verizon USED to be the best carrier, by far. In the past few years however, their service has gotten worse and worse. Dropped calls, unable to connect to internet, etc. Then they call YOU to switch from your unlimited data plan to one that "better fits your usage needs." I finally took the bait and switched from my unlimited plan. WRONG DECISION!! I used to pay $176/month for UNLIMITED data. Since switching over my last two bills have been OVER $200. So I am paying MORE to have LESS!!! Really?! So now I'm out of the grandfathering-in of the unlimited plan and am paying more. Did I mention the hidden fees and charges that are everywhere?? Activation and access fees, surcharges. Just CRAP. I've been intentionally duped, scammed, and mislead by every representative I've called to try and figure out this billing issue. And let's just say, they are becoming more and more harsh on the phone. They must see the error in their ways, which explains why they are constantly being so defensive. I'm sick of it and no one in the Verizon community gives a crap. Thank God for social media. Word is getting out, Verizon.
