in the past nfl games could be streamed without using data via the NFL app. is this true for the 2019 season? if so which app?

Being able to watch the games on the go is very convenient, aln8590. To get the best NFL viewing experience, it is recommended that you download the Yahoo Sports app. The Yahoo Sports app allows you to watch live games on your phone or tablet, view game previews, and post-game highlights. Data consumed while streaming is subject to the customer's data plan (NFL data streaming is not free) - this is a change for 2019-20.
