Network Extender? Only if you pay through the teeth!

I live in a large busy city. According to Verizon I am in an area with complete 3G coverage. When they break it down on the map for my exact address I am between "Best" and "Good" coverage area. Yet if I am at home I cannot make or receive a cell call without call dropping. And don't even try to text from my home, it just won't work.  I can set my cell down on my desk and not touch it for hours, yet it constantly goes in and out of service area according to the phone.

After 4 calls to Verizon about this issue, they finally sent me to tech support for a trouble ticket.  4 days and 4 calls later they inform me that if I want to use my cell phone at home (a service I already am paying for) I need to spend $249 to BUY a network extender! This extender needs to be hooked to MY internet (at my own expense for cost of internet also) to improve the signal to my cell phone.

The poor little guy "Can you hear me now" , would probably be ashamed of how these technical issues are handled. Yes!! I can hear you now !! You are telling me to pull out my wallet and pay you even more money to get the service I am already paying through the teeth for!!

I find it hard to believe that a company that has a billion dollars in revenue a year can survive being this ungrateful to the customers that are making that revenue for them.

If you are reading this to get some idea of whether to use Verizon as your cell service or not.. I would suggest you get a "trial" account with them and make sure you get complete service at home / work / the commute to and from.  If you don't get the service you would be paying for, go to another company. A mistake I will be rectifying as soon as my contract is up!

Read this post.  Verizon supplied one for free so maybe push them a little more if you have no signal.  Mary

After going around and around with them, they finally did offer the extender at 50% off cost. But I still feel this is 50% more than I should be paying to get the service I am already paying for.  I became a Verizon customer by default, as the company I had been with for many many years sold out to Verizon and my contract just switched over automatically. I have 5 phones on my account, each of which was upgraded because that was what the first CS rep said would have to happen to get better service at my home. Turns out that was a waste of time. Even the newer style phones didn't help reception. I even had the CS rep telling me that Verizon "Values" each and every one of it's customers. But by the way this issue is being treated, I am truly beginning to doubt they do. The tech that checked service quality at my home was located in Albuquerque, NM (I live in Colo. Springs, CO) and the CS rep I got was located in Mankato, MN. Between the two of them and the 4 hours spent on the phone dealing with this issue I came away more frustrated and confused than I started.
