Recently sending text messages to groups of contacts or pictures takes 20 minutes to HOURS to go through. Using a Kyocera E4610 flip phone. Text messages to single contacts goes through normally. I get a "Network is Unavailable" message when trying to send messages. Same problem on two similar flip phones, mine and my wife's. Never had the problem in the past several years. The local Verizon store replace the SIM card with no solution. Full content of the message is:
"Network is unavailable. The message will be sent when the network is available or over WiFi if you are subscribed to Integrated Messaging."
Any solutions? Dec 22, 2022

Hello there hassshep1 and thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter. We can understand your confusion surrounding this matter and we are here to help make sure all of your messages are delivered successfully. When trying to send a picture message, does the message go through when sending to just one contact or does it not still go through? Do you recall any changes happening with your plan or services around the time this issue began?

Thanks, Candice –
Sending picture messages to my email account alone is inhibited by this “Network unavailable” problem. Just yesterday I sent several individual pictures from the Gallery on my phone to my email. The first one went through in a few seconds to show up in my email. The next few, sent just a couple minutes later, took 2 hours. Another batch later in the day took 20 minutes. This was both single pictures and in a couple cases multiple pictures at once. The Verizon store had checked to see if there were any changes to my service and found none when they replaced my SIM card and re-set my connection. This problem occurs in a variety of locations, and in locations where I have had no problems in the past, so “signal strength” may not be part of the issue.

Whitney - The problem with sending group text messages and photos is occurring on both my flip phone and my wife's flip phone. Mine is a Kyocera E 4610, and my wife's is a Kyocera S 2720. The SIM card has been replaced on both, and they still are un-useable when communicating by text to groups. Messages take forever to get out, and incoming ones from another party also may take HOURS to show up on our phones. Recently I received a "text" from my wife that was a grayed-out block with the words DOWNLOAD, yet she had not sent anything to me. Getting weird.

The issue may be with the phone itself. Can you provide me the make and model of your phone? I will need to check the device specifications.

I have the very same problem with sending any kind of text to a group. Doesn’t matter if it’s plain text or not. I’m using a Kyocera E4610 flip phone as well.

Hello, GC65. Help is here as having the ability to communicate via text is a must. Help is here. Please tell us more. Are there any pending software updates? Does this happen on both Wi-Fi and Verizon data? When did this begin?

Thanks. It has been going on for a long long time. No pending software updates. I took it into our Verizon store and they changed the setting from global to LTE. While in the store I sent two texts with no problem. However, as soon as I got home and attempted to send a text to the very same group, I got the same Network is Unavailable error.

The message eventually goes through, but it may take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour.

Wi-Fi is off, but it does the same even if it’s on.

If it's only texts which aren't working properly... are you using Verizon's Messages+ app for texting? Messages+ is on life support these days with Verizon planning to pull the plug in a few more weeks. The app has already been acting strangely for a few months, which I'd have to presume are due to background processes being shut down. I'd switch to Google Messages or some other texting app.
If, however, a bunch of other stuff isn't working with your Kyocera phone, a Verizon software update a couple months ago caused many Kyocera phones to be completely bricked. The problem was resolved by getting the affected customers new Kyocera phones with updates disabled.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
