New Verizon Visa credit card for Auto Pay

I currently have the 55+ Loyalty Plan which requires a debit card for AutoPay to get the $5 off per line discount. If I get the new Verizon Visa credit card, will I be able to pay my bill with the card and receive my discount?

I went into the Manage Payment section of the Bill tab and it does list the Verizon Visa card as a payment option, but I do not want to lose the discount.

Does anybody have an answer?

Thanks.

Madacan,

You may already be receiving a discount per line because you are enrolled in AutoPay. I don't think that you would receive an additional $10 discount per line if you added the Verizon Visa credit card to be used for your AutoPay.

I would call customer service and verify with them.

It's a credit card and therefore doesn't qualify for the autopay and paperless billing discount.

I received an email the other day and it stated:

No other credit card saves you money on your Verizon Wireless bill.

Get up to $10 per month off each eligible account or line when you use your card to enroll in Verizon's Auto Pay,* up to 10 lines max on select plans. And the card comes with no annual fee.** Period.

Unfortunately, when you read the fine print...it says that if you are already enrolled in AutoPay then it wouldn't apply to you.  Who still sends checks in this day and age???

Not true. You can add the card to your payment options to pay your wireless bill and use it to enroll in autopay.

I have some specific questions about this New Verizon Visa Card offer I received in the mail.

1. I already subscribe to Go Unlimited for three lines and receive military discount of $40 for the entire package (I am a military veteran).

2. In the fine print on the back of the Verizon Visa mail flyer, it says it's for "first time enrollees." I am already enrolled for paperless billing and AutoPay via another credit card. Does this make me ineligible for the $10 per line per month discount if I enroll in AutoPay with the Verizon Card?

3. If I am ineligible based on #3 above, can I simply disenroll from AutoPay now, apply for the card, then re-enroll for AutoPay using the New Verizon Visa? Specifically: I am permanently ineligible, or is there an ineligibility exclusion period, such as: I should be disenrolled from autopay for one year, or other period of time?

4. When does the Application offer expire?

Actually they shouldn't have been receiving the autopay discount because they had indicated they were paying their bill with a credit card. Payments with a credit card don't qualify for the discount.

StevenA6: Unfortunately your response does not answer my question,  so I don’t know why it was marked as a “solution.” My $40 discount comes directly from my veteran status only and indicates so on my monthly billing statement; I receive no discount for AutoPay enrollment. I would like a Verizon employee/moderator to tell me for sure, yes or no, whether I can qualify for a discount if I apply for the Verizon Visa Card. This is the make it or break it question for whether I will apply for this card. Thanks.

The OP as the creator of this thread can mark any post as the answer. Since you, madacan, aren't the OP you unfortunately don't have control over which posts are marked as the answer.

As for your question about applying for the Verizon Visa card, a VZW rep already answered your question in an earlier post within this discussion thread. The Verizon Visa card is so new even to me that I wasn't aware of it too including how using it could apply to the autopay and paperless billing discount.

madacan, we always want to make sure that you can get the best assistance when it comes to signing up for a discount as well as the Verizon Visa Card. You  are eligible to enroll in a discount for your Verizon Wireless plan while also enrolling for the Visa Card. For first time enrollment on the card, you can also qualify for a discount. I am still confused about this same issue. The fine print says:

Verizon customers currently enrolled in Auto Pay and paper-free billing via other methods (e.g., ACH or debit card) will not receive additional discounts for re-enrolling using the card.

This seems to imply that because I am currently enrolled in Auto Pay, I would not be able to get the $10 per line discount if I get the new Verizon credit card. Is this correct? Or is it just meaning to say that you cannot combine the new $10 per line discount with other Auto Pay discounts you may be receiving?

Related; I have always used my bank account for Auto Pay; and as far as I can tell I have never been receiving an Auto Pay discount for doing so. I hadn't heard of this before today; but it looks like I should have been receiving a discount this whole time?

@GendoIkari

Are you enrolled in both autopay and paperless billing? You need to be enrolled in both to qualify for the discount.

Yes we are. We have the "New Verizon 4GB" shared data plan. I don't see it listed here https://www.verizon.com/support/auto-pay-faqs/ under the list of eligible plans, so it may just be that our plan doesn't qualify for that discount. However, that doesn't seem to answer the question about the new Verizon Credit Card... I don't see any information in the Credit Card info or small print about what plans are eligible or not.

Is the $10 per line discount being advertised on the Credit Card really just saying "with this card you can get the same discount you get when you pay with bank or debt cards; but you can now get it paying with this credit card instead"? Or is it a separate $10 per line discount that you get for using the new Credit Card (which can't be combined with the other Auto Pay discount)?

Since your current plan isn't listed as an eligible plan, you won't qualify for the discount even if you decide to get the Verizon Visa card.

For example, I wouldn't get the full $10 off either because my current plan restricts the autopay and paperless billing discount to $5 per month.

I have spoken to someone in Customer Service who said that the AutoPay discount is only for the Unlimited plans. It should be made more clear.

Regarding the $10 AutoPay discount, if you are already receiving a $5 per line discount like I am, you will not get an additional $10 per line discount.

GendoIkari,

These days, discounts are always appreciated, aren't they? I'd be reaching out as well regarding the Visa card's Auto Pay discount if I were in your shoes. Let's make sure this is all crystal clear. In terms of the fine print, you're right; this is referring to duplicating the doubling up on the discount, which can't be done. If you are already using your checking account, you won't be able to use the Visa and get double the discount. The link is simply stating that it's one payment source or another, which will provide you with the same Auto Pay discount structure.

Now, in terms of your account, we can't check on your discount here in the public forum, so I've sent you a Private Note with instructions on how to move forward with investigating your current Auto Pay discount. Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Extremely deceptive here by Verizon.

When I verbally discussed the unlimited program, I was told that you just have to enroll for auto pay.  No mention was made that it had to be via ach, or debit card only.  The Verizon credit card says you get $10 off monthly for each line.  The only reason I signed up for the Verizon credit card was to get the extra $10 off monthly per line.  I did not need another card.  I had been paying ACH the entire time, and I would have just used that for auto pay.  My expectation was that I would get the unlimted auto pay billing, and get another $10 off each line because I used the Verizon credit card.

Just a huge ripoff, trying to get you to use the card.

Cancelling card, will just auto pay via ACH.  Do not like this deceptivness

We know getting accurate information is essential when it comes to our plans and discounts, Berly3. Our AutoPay discount with our unlimited data plans does require it being set up with your bank account or debit card and having paper-free billing enabled.
