You may be able to get a better price on a site such as swappa.com.

Yeah I'm sure I could get more than that too if I sold it myself on the side.. but I wanted to use it towards getting a LG2. You would think Verizon would give you fair market value for the phone so you would want to trade it and in and get a new device NOW but I guess not. So now I will wait till my upgrade date in April. Verizon is making it harder and harder to stay loyal to them. I'm very close to making the leap to another carrier at this point.. which is unfortunate as I have been with Verizon since the beginning of cell phones

You may want to look at my post before you send to verizon. https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/814736

Yes, there are SEVERAL threads in the forums describing the troubles people have had when using Verizon's trade-in program. Ever since I first saw this program, I tried steering people away from it as the value Verizon estimates your trade-in at is WELL below(sometimes even 30%-40%) what you would be able to realize if you were to sell the phone on your own. Additionally, you do not get cash in the process but a gift card to be used towards additional Verizon equipment. I never understood why ANYONE would voluntarily trade their phone in with Verizon instead of selling it on their own.

Recently, I have stopped posting on threads such as yours because it seems to be a useless cause. People STILL use the program and people STILL complain about how well it works no matter how many posts are listed extolling the pitfalls of this program. Hopefully you will get your gift card soon.Smiley Happy

Yeah it has been a terrible experience. It makes me want to cancel Verizon altogether. I know T-Mobile will pay all termination fees if you cancel early with Verizon. May go that route.

That would certainly depend on how much you are willing to shell out at the point of transfer.

First of all, T-Mobile does not "pay" your ETF, but simply reimburses you after you pay them and provide T-Mobile with a copy of the bill showing the ETF.

Second, you must give T-Mobile a working phone as a trade AND purchase a full retail priced phone from T-Mobile.

Lastly, if someone wants to cancel multiple lines with Verizon AND drop a line in the process, the ETF on the dropped line WOULD NOT be eligible for the ETF reimbursement.

Depending on how many lines you are switching, a person COULD end up paying well over $1000 to switch. I certainly am not trying to dissuade anyone from switching, but please LOOK before you LEAP. All too often people don't and end up regretting the decision.Smiley Happy

Even if you traded it in at Verizon, you would not be able to put the proceeds towards the purchase of a new phone. With Verizon's trade-in program, you send the phone in and you receive a gift card in the mail. You do not go into a store, give them the phone and they take whatever amount off the cost of the new device. The trade-in value is presented to you after the fact.

Actually buddy that exactly what happens as I just did it! I went into Verizon, told them I wanted to trade in my 13 pro max for store credit and boom. Done.

For older phones like that, Verizon cannot resell them and so they will scrap them. With that said, a 5 year old phone goes for close to the same scrap value as a 2 year old phone. That's why only $1.00 seperates the phones.

I would sell it somewhere else, as mentioned above

Good Luck

Look you have a Lucid. This phone was barely mid range when it came out 21 months ago and you're trading in a used phone. The Lucid 2 retails for $300 brand new in the box so realistically how much were you expecting for a used Lucid?

@statxyz,

I totally understand you wanting to get the most money for your phone! There are many factors that determine the amount your phone is appraised for. The demand of a phone may be a factor as well. Unfortunately, I do not have all the details that going into the appraisal of the devices. You can always keep the phone as a replacement in case you ever need one in the future. I always keep an old phone handy just in case.

It's just like trading in your car towards a new one as opposed to selling it privately. Companies are in this to make money, not give away the farm. Why don't people understand that? And trading in a phone unseen is the biggest mistake you can make just like financing a cell phone to avoid a contract. They are making more off you that way. How hard is that to comprehend?

I think this is ridiculous.  I have had 2 iPhones STOLEN by Verizon.  I have not heard from anyone at Verizon and am unable to contact anyone at the ONE phone number given by the Trade In program.  Anyone reading this DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!  You have to unlock your phone and ship it blindly to thieves that will 1) lie that you haven't turned off Find my Phone and/or 2) claim your phone never reached them.

Hello benichols,

Help is our middle name! We want to do all that we can to bring a solution to this issue for you. May I ask what number were you provided to call for this issue? Also, which iPhones are you referring to? If you can share the memory size and color then that would be great. The date in which you traded the devices in will be helpful as well.

Thank you...

Verizon Help Wireless? Don't have a good ring to it......

Anyways, ArnettH_VZW, maybe you can clear something up for me. You asked for the device color, but as far as I know, color does not impact the value of the device. Could you clear that up for me?

I think they're trying to find your phones so they can get you your gift cards, and they need a description of the phone to try and find them.

jroeder,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We would be happy to explain. As you can see on the recycle program page, it phone has a different listing for both its color and memory size. Although the color is not mainly important, we still want to be thorough and make sure that we match up the devices with the correct corresponding listing.

Thank you,

Hello ArnettH,

I sent 2 iPhones in (removed) at the same time.  Only the first was acknowledged.  The first was downgraded to $37 due to Find my Phone being turned on.  It was not.  The second phone has not yet been acknowledged by the trade in program.  Both phones were in pristine condition (32GB and 16GB) and valued at $410 total.

Private info removed as required by the Terms of Service.

Am I going to get any help on this?  I provided the info requested and the only response was to delete part of my post!  I'm wondering if I need to report my UDIDs as stolen for these 2 phones and see where in the Verizon system they are...
