Only 1 Bar

For several months only 2 bars at home. Now only 1. Often calls come in but no one can hear me. Or I call and there’s no audio on either end of my line. If calls work, then intermittently I can’t be heard. When on Bluetooth in car, have 5 bars but drops down at traffic signals and as leaving complex calls drop or I can’t be heard. This is unacceptable. I pay too much for this bad service. Using wifi when home for internet. Iphone SE 2020. Thinking after all these years, jump ship AT&T or Tmobile

Hello, Tired23, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing service issues around your home and that it is causing you to think about going to another provider. We're here to help. You mentioned that you have seen 2 bars of service for several months. Were you seeing more bars before that? Are you able to use service without a problem once you are away from your home area? If so, how far away from your home do you have to travel before service improves?

Hi Lauren. Right now isn’t a good time to respond. What hours and which days are you available?

Apparently this same exact issue is affecting Verizon customers across the country! I see new posts now.
At first when I drive onto the blvd I had 5 bars. But as traffics signals were approached the bars went down to 1. The bars stayed low off/on. But of course Houston traffic prevented me from paying constant attention to bars. I’m home now - only 1 bar then 2 then 1 then 2 again and on and on. Not good for any calls. What if 911 needed.

BTW - I used troubleshooting on Verizon app. Did no good. Obviously not my iphone.

We appreciate your response, Tired23, and want to narrow down the cause of your calling concern. Please know the signal strength on your device is not necessarily an indicator that there is a problem. With that being said, are you experiencing an issue with calls in other areas aside from around your home? Are you experiencing any issues with text or data?

My texting and data when at home are on wifi. But calling issues in my condo -  I’ve had only 2 bars for months and was dropping calls  Then this week dropped to 1 bar and issues are worse. As previously mentioned as I exit complex in my car calls are dropped or person on other end can’t hear me.

i noticed Monday that 5 bars dropped to 2 at traffic signal and fluctuating as I drove further but never returning to 5.

Right now below 2 bars in condo

I use data in traffic maps in car. But haven’t paid attention much while driving.
I lose calls at the very top of Houston Ship Channel Bridge - 175’ high.

If my issues are only occurring on very low bars how can that not be signal strength on my device causing any problems?

This is ridiculous!!!!!! Absolutely no one has helped me. Several different Verizon techs keep messaging asking questions but absolutely no one gives any help. I answer the questions but then a different tech comes along with different questions and I answer. Then yet another tech pops up reminding me “we’re still here to help”. Seriously??? Meanwhile my issues still exist. I’ve been a LOYAL customer for years and have paid for several different phones to Verizon.

This is how you “help” me? Verizon does not care.

My favorite part about verizon is they act like it's a brand new problem they've never heard of each and every time they receive a complaint.   They ask us for all this information, when all they have to do is talk to tech at the data collection facility and they'll have these answers instantly.   They know the problem is their intermittent service that we are expected to pay full price for each month.  It blows my mind when i'm at work trying to message my CEO with 3 bars of service and the message fails to send.  Just a simple text.  You're wasting your time with verizon.   They'll "work on the problem", but you'll still have the same service issues as always.  Another great experience when i upgraded my phone is i specifically asked the gal if my phone would slow down after a month like always, and of course she said no.

Good luck to you on your happiness hunt!

Great reply!

I’m heading to Tmobile.

Countless Verizon techs have contacted me on this issue. Each 1 never reads any previous messages from other techs. Then they start all over.

Verizon says lack of sufficient bars does NOT indicate transmission problems. I’m still rolling on the floor laughing at that. They blame my condo building materials. Even when I’m in the parking lot or going for a walk outside the building. Now they insist I need their network extender. Have you read the if-then-else info for that and how close to the extender you need to be?

Last contact I had they didn’t try to keep as a customer. Gave me the info for my new carrier to unlock my sim but that took me over 1/2 hour to extract that info from the tech who asked me “Why?” The info is time locked so if I miss window opportunity then start over.
But now they want my wifi business!!!!

@Tired23  I totally, totally agree with you. In fact, the Verizon agents completely disregarded my requests two years ago because “I’m under 12 years old”—just what kind of obnoxious accusation is THAT!!! I was 23 (now 25) when I tried talking to them, and they saidPlease do not contact us again since you are underage. We will NOT look at your messages.”!

Or, maybe Verizon employees are just CHOOSING not to help out customers in desperate need for resolution, and are simply interested in their own wages. SO bad 😠

He repeatedly gave you the details. That’s the whole point. I’m sitting in the Houston area currently with one bar wondering why I stayed with Verizon. 🤦🏻‍♀️
