Perks Billing

I went to my local Verizon store to see about lowering my monthly bill.  I lowered the bill  over $80 per month.  Almost immediately $10 charges for perks showed up on 2 of my lines.  I told the salesperson, and her manager, that I wanted no perks, no gimmicks, just a simple plan for unlimited calls, texts and data.  The store agents wanted my Netflix credentials and the login credentials for my paramount plus.  I refused to share them and told them, again, I do not want any perks.  I am not ok with paying Verizon for my streaming services.  All I want is a phone carrier.  I removed the perk charges, never having set up accounts for Netflix or Paramount Plus via Verizon, and lowered my bill by another $20 per month.  Less than 1 week later a charge for perks was back on my bill.  Support said that they could see that it was done in one of their Verizon stores.  I spent 2 days on the phone with Verizon and drove 40 miles, round trip (twice in one day) to try and resolve the issue at the store.  The store agents were absolutely rude and useless.  They would not even take the time to seat me at a desk and instead talked with me in the waiting area where everyone could here my displeasure.  With every call to support and every trip to the store I got  different prices, different excuses, and different stories.  One agent told me that if I paid off the balance on one of our iPhones that my monthly bill  would increase by $30 per month!  I am still trying to figure that one out.  Verizon says it wants to make our lives easier by being our  billing agent for streaming.  The truth is they are collecting data, that is where the money is.  I want my phone carrier to be a phone carrier, no more, no less. I will deal with my phone carrier for phone service and negotiate with streaming services directly.  I have appointment with t-Mobile in 2 days.

Same thing happened to me. The rep told me the $20 perk fee is mandatory and that Apple One is included for free. Makes no sense at all. Now I spoke to a rep and saved to conversation with him telling me I will only be charged if I don’t set up Apple One but if I set it up I won’t be charged. I told him that sounds like it’s a little backwards.  They are told to push these items and for you to act like it’s a mistake is a LIE! Why is it the mistake is NEVER in our favor. We should all start going to the competition

@Noperks  If you simply want a no frills unlimited cell phone plan, I highly recommend using the prepaid plans.  Yes, you are deprioritized to the postpaid customers so your data speeds are going to be on the slower side, but you get a flat rate bill plus tax every month.  If you set up autopay, get $10 off after the first month and it'll automatically renew the plan each month since it's otherwise a pay-as-you-go-monthly thing and expires if you forget to pay on time.  I am like you and prefer to keep outside services such as streaming subscriptions separate, never mind that I like that prepaid's cheaper than postpaid.

T-Mobile runs their postpaid business about the same as Verizon in my experience, so you won't necessarily get away from random add-ons there either.
