Poor Signal Strength and No Service in 92106. San Diego, CA

The reception on my Iphone has been very poor today. For the seven years I've had this phone its always shown 4 bars. Today its been dropping to two, or one, and at times no service. I have two phones on Verizon--two different Verizon accounts--and both are acting the same way. No outages are reported. Verizon service over the telephone was of little help--the woman who I spoke to spent more time trying to get me to agree to purchase a new Iphone than to discover what is going on with the signal strength on the phone I already have. I went to the Verizon store and they informed me that their system only reports outages, not reductions in service. So how does the issue get resolved?  I cannot be the only one who is noticing this.  I really depend on the Verizon system to be robust--not intermittent. Verizon, can you fix your system?

Hello, Magloop. Help is here as we know how important it is to have only the best in service with us. Please tell us more. When this issue happens, are you indoors? We need to pinpoint this issue to properly troubleshoot it. Lastly, are your devices up to date with software?

Considering 2 different phones are acting the same way, it's not your devices.  Unfortunately, the call center is overseas so whomever you spoke with doesn't really know what's going on with the network in the US.  You can leave feedback at the Check Network Status link, or report/check for service issues at https://downdetector.com

Verizon has been upgrading their towers in recent months, so it's possible they're working on the ones where you live, hence the reduction in signal strength.  A cell phone tower can't be completely shut off for maintenance, so while some stuff is being worked on, the other cells on the tower are more likely to get really bogged down, in which case they are unable to output as much signal to all the devices connected.
