Poor coverage, now told to buy a booster? No thanks.

My wife and I bought a lot in a waterfront community in northeastern NC about 5 years ago and noticed right away that Verizon's signal was very poor in our immediate area. We've requested many times that they consider expanding their services but nothing has been done. The problem is that we're almost finished with construction and will be moving to this location the end of next month and are now faced with a decision to either cancel our service with Verizon and pay the astronomical fees, or keep the service and buy a booster that "may" work and continue to ask for better coverage (falling on def ears) and buy more phones with another carrier to just use at home and do some kind of call forwarding.

Verizon should offer another options to people like us who simply can not use their services anymore due to their lack of coverage. And more importantly, Verizon should not try to sell us a signal booster for $200+! That's outrageous. Verizon should openly provide boosters at no cost to keep their customers.

This is the image on Verizon's website where they claim 4G coverage... this simply is not true.

So you bought a lot 5 years ago knowing you were gonna live there. Did you keep upgrading your phones too, because you speak of fees to cancel. Why did you keep upgrading? If you out of contract switch providers . If not out still switch and pay your fees. It's quite simple.

NEVER go by the coverage map of any carrier.  IMO, seriously exaggerate their coverage.  I always suggest having people with different carriers (and devices) come over and check real signal levels.

Some of the other carriers are offering to cover termination fees, so you might want to look into them.

What phones do you have?  iPhone 6 and 6s series can use the message + app to get wifi calling and text messages over wifi.
