I work in Castle Rock Colorado and have very poor reception. My phone is never on LTE, only 3G, 1x. I am not able to use my phone for much else besides calls if I'm lucky. Will verizon build another tower there or is there something I can do to make this better? It seems pointless to have a huge data plan and a smartphone if I can never use it.

There could be other factors reducing the signal. The trees, structures and terrain can reduce the sight lines between you and the tower. I seem to recall Castle Rock was mostly in the valley surrounded by the edges of the Foothills. The local jurisdiction might also restrict where towers are allowed. Rock and concrete are not good friends with the 4G LTE network. Which phone model do you have? Have you tried replacing the SIM card? Which network mode is the phone set to?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
