Can I keep my Verizon number that I have had if I switch phone carriers say to ATT or Republic Wireless? If so, where can I find out if my number is portable?

If you port you keep it. If you cancel Verizon without porting, you lose it.

teresapb,
You definitely got the right information regarding porting your number, but yikes! Why were you looking to port out to a different carrier?

What a nightmare. Verizon has me going in circles trying to port the second device to a new carrier.
Why would I ever want to leave Verizon for one this very problem. The customer service is terrible, the billing is high. Just tiring to not pay the highest rate in the market. I have spent the better part of two days trying to leave Verizon.
