Problem with T-Mobile / Verizon interface?

About 2 days ago all the calls between myself on Verizon and my gf on T-mobile are getting dropped after a minute or so, after quite awhile of working normally.  She can call others just fine, and I can call others fine.

What could be the problem here?

Hitechnerd, it is certainly concerning to hear that you are experiencing these issues when placing calls to only a single individual. What model of device do you have? Also, does this tend to happen regardless of location when placing a call or do you notice that you only drop the calls in a specific location?

Thank you for your response.

I have a Motorola Droid Turbo, Android v6.0.1 on Verizon, used from my home when experiencing this issue.  It is sometimes 4G, sometimes 1 or 3G.  No issues calling other people from this location.

I have not had the opportunity to test from other locations.

My gf has an iPhone 7 (relatively new) on T-Mobile, usually used from her home.

Her SIM card was replaced today, but I think the issue persists.

My Vonage phone connects fine to her T-Mobile phone.

This is certainly strange to hear, HiTechNerd, as this issue isn't very common when only one contact is affected both ways. You mentioned that the call drops at roughly a minute in time and this issue began about 2-days ago. Do you recall making any changes to your device during this time? This can be anything from downloading files or adding any new applications. Also, have you tried any specific troubleshooting steps such as powering your device off and on to see if this keeps the call from dropping?

There may have been some updates to apps already installed to the phone at that time. I don't recall which ones.

Also, the Wells Fargo banking app is new, possibly at that time.  I will uninstall it and reboot to see if that fixes the problem....probably later today.

Of course, phones at both ends have been rebooted by poweroff to attempt a fix.  Battery has not been removed and re-inserted, though.

The dropped calls only occur from my home location.  Traveling in the car did not experience dropped calls.

One thing I have noticed, is that at my home the connection speed varies between 1 and 4 G, and I am also connected to WiFi.  It could be that there is an issue switching between rates, or some WiFi thing is causing a problem.

Anyway, I can work around this issue if this is the case.

I think the problem is that the calls are dropping when my phone switches from 1G to 4G.

As I was staring at it I saw the indicator change, and the call was disconnected.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks.

Are you using Advanced Calling or VoLTE on your phone?

I had not been using Advanced Calling or VoLTE.

I just set it up and activated WiFi calling, but have not tested it's behavior yet.

It might have been labeled as HD Voice on the phone itself. I didn't think you could use wifi calling without HD Voice/VoLTE.

Then I would suggest trying a call to your girlfriend's phone with the HD Voice feature off to see if the call quality improves or is worse. The switch from 1xRTT to 4G is suggesting to me the call is switching from the legacy network to VoLTE which will automatically cause calls to drop as there is no handover between the two types of calls.

HITECHNERD, we don't want this to be an ongoing issue for you. Have you ever had good service inside of your home? When did this drop call issue start? Do you know of other wireless phones having this issue inside of your home?

Thank you for the assistance.

I think the issue started last week.

I did not have HD calling activated at the time.

It seems that the 4G coverage may be spotty here, and the switching from 1x to 4G is causing the problem.

I can live with it.

By the way, I assume you have my service address, but I live east of san diego, on top of a hill, with good visibility for quite a distance.

I have tried turning off data access over cellular (line through 4G indicator), but that did not help.

My latest thing to try is setting the preferred network choice to 4G/LTE instead of Global, but I doubt that will do anything.

The CDMA/LTE mode is the preferred setting.

It's happening to everyone. My cousin has a Verizon house phone, good old fashioned copper wiring, and no one with a T-mobile phone (myself included) can call her. It's like Verizon is blocking calls from T-Mobile.  The tech who was out to my cousin's house said they're getting a ton of complaints.
