I feel the same way. They are not giving a reason why. That upsets me. I like having my ringback tones and ringtones. Now I have to find another way to have my ringback tone.

But what about all those who were enjoying that option, come on Verizon isn’t it supposed to be about customer satisfaction first especially for those of us that have supported you through many years!!

Badough, we truly appreciate you being a long time Verizon customer. While ringback tones are no longer offered through Verizon, you still have the option of checking out your Play Store or App Store to see what third party options are available to you.

How does that work? Ringback tones were controlled through the customer's MyVerizon account online. There was no way add custom tones for the ringback sounds.

Great question, Ann154. Ringback Tones can still be added to your device. You only need to download an app, like Zedge to peruse their content for a song you like. Once you've made a selection download the song to your device. If you need help, please let us know.

Wrong! Zedge allows you to customize your ringtones not the ringback tones. That is two different things. Ringtones are what you hear when someone calls you and Ringback tones are what people hear instead of the ringing when they call you.

Personally I haven't heard a ringback tones in probably 15 years or so and even then it was rare and annoying to listen to while you were waiting for the person to answer the phone. I also think they can give the person calling you a false or negative impression of you especially the person who is calling you about business or a job opportunity. I'm glad the technology has progressed enough to deem the technology used for ringback tones to be obsolete and no longer supported. If Windows 3.0 can be retired so can ringback tones.

Djvictor1091, the Verizon Visual Voicemail is carrier specific to the device. For devices that were not specific to Verizon, the manufacturer Voicemail is installed and Verizon Visual Voicemail will not be guaranteed to work. You have reached the right person to help you. Ringback Tones are no longer available through Verizon. Any comparable applications through third-party sources would be another alternative. Downloading music will not give you the option to make it a ringback tone. You can only apply it as a ringtone. Does this provide clarity? AmberF-_VZW

I wanted to be clear the item I downloaded is designated as a ringtone I was under the impression that I could then somehow turn it into a ringback tone and my under the wrong impression?

We want to ensure we are providing the information you need Raragirl. Ringtones can not be converted into ringback tones. The ringback tone service has been discontinued. Does this provide clarity?

Clarity? Clarity would be continuing the ringback tones... They can only be accomplished through the carrier, not a third party app! Zedge does ring tones not ringback tones.  THAT was the best part of my service!!  I hate when people KNOW I'm on a call... and I don't click over.  Any chance this will be reinstated anytime soon??? It's Christmas Time and no peanuts on my phone this year....

Hello MARLIG48. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be something we will be reinstating. Here is more info on this: https://www.verizon.com/support/no-longer-supported-ringback-tones/

Here's the reality. Just like a small minority are still using flip phones, a small minority used the service. From a business perspective, it makes little sense to pay licensing fees for a service that only gets them 99 cents from a small amount of customers.

I just downloaded Zedge and would very much like to know the process for selecting the ringtone which I can then designate as a ringback.  Can you elaborate more or direct me to a website that could help me with this?

Thanks

This does NOT work for ringBACK tones. ie. what callers hear when they call your number. Is there a solution? I can't find an app that handles ringback tones anywhere.

Ringback tones are only offered though through the carrier. No idea why Verizon got rid of these, I had so many compliments from clients calling and love hearing music. Esp. since Covid more and more people have to actually make a call now to reach someone and connect. There is no third party app that will give a ringback tone since these only go through a carrier unlike a regular ringtone which you can use a third party app.

I just want Verizon to bring this back, maybe even charge a little more for those that really want it perhaps and bring it back with some fresh music as well!
