I am so tired and frustrated with my phone going into SOS mode! I have been through so many support calls that when I message Verizon about the issue, I want them to be aware that it continues to happen and not to contact me for troubleshooting because NOTHING EVER WORKS!!! Verizon opened a ticket and I did not get a call back on the day the appointment was set to follow up on said ticket. I reached out to them only to get that the ticket was closed. Guess what??? I'm still getting calls going to SOS mode and now experience at least 30 seconds of silence on most calls! WHEN IS VERIZON GOING TO TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND FIX IT?? I'm about to compare my AT&T wireless home phone...

Hey there, I understand that you are getting the SOS only message a lot. There could be a few reasons behind this, and I am here to help.
- Your area may be experiencing outages, you may check current outages in your area here: https://www.verizon.com/support/check-network-status/
- Your device may be having issues, in this case I would recommend doing a full network reset. To reset network settings on your iPhone, navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network
- Potential SIM card issues if you have a physical card it may be starting to wear in this case I would recommend getting a new SIM card.

This is what the tech had me do the last time...I guess as a "deeper dive" to resolve the problem.

Sorry to hear your service is like that. What is the ZIP code of the problem area, and does it only happen when you're in one place, or everywhere you go including out of town?
If it's everywhere you go, then my guess is there's a hardware issue with your phone. As an example the Samsung S22 generation has a well-known hardware problem where the phones just quit working on cellular service due to the flex antenna and charging port board going out.
If it's only in some locations, then it's a network issue where Verizon just doesn't work well there, or there is some source of interference blocking the Verizon signal. Dead zones happen for all kinds of reasons and every carrier has them. Another possibility is if you're in some seriously congested area and are not a direct customer of Verizon? There are a lot of 3rd party carriers who use Verizon, but in my experience, those customers can very definitely have the SOS problem if the network is extremely busy.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

If it's happening everywhere, then I think something's wrong with your phone. Smartphones don't have a very long lifespan - a few years at best - so something may be going out in it. If it's a Samsung S22 which won't work unless you have it on WiFi, see the comment in my earlier post. I'm guessing someone at Verizon already replaced your SIM or eSIM and tried reprovisioning your account.
