Why is Verizon only offering a Senior Discount in Florida only??? It doesn't seem quite fair that it is offered in only one state excluding all others. Please explain the reasoning behind this decision. I have been a customer for decades and would hate to leave a company that I do like but AT&T and T Mobile both offer fantastic discounts for their Senior customers.

Verizon doesn't have a senior discount. What you're thinking about is the 55+ unlimited plan which was a trial in Florida and a couple of other states.
People in that age range typically use less data where that plan would cost them more compared to something more modest like a 2GB plan.

It's been "in trial" for a couple of years now. Not sure why they never rolled it out to everyone.

Rempson, we want to make sure that you have the best fit plan for your wireless needs. We’d love to have the chance to review the specifics of your account to make sure that you’re on the right plan. I’ve sent you a Private Note. Please respond to that message.

Verizon doesn't have a senior discount. If it walks like a duck etc......
Again, why only Florida?

I just saw this senior discount plan as well and am very disappointed that it hasn't rolled out to other states. I have been a loyal Verizon customer for decades and this really has me rethinking things. That would be a real money saver.

How could it be a real money saver? Those unlimited plans will slow your data speed as the systems gets busy. That is not a cost saver if you want to use data. The old saying of "you get what you pay for" comes into play here.

Frankly, the fact it is only offered in Florida makes one question why Verizon discriminates against seniors, based on lobbying and politics? Verizon has had time to offer it in other states. AARP enjoys petitions which help them determine which companies to recommend to seniors and which ones we should avoid. Guess it's time to show the world, seniors on a limited income, should only use Verizon if they live in Florida. Facebook here we come!

I've been after Verizon to expand their 55+ Senior plan for years, to say, for here in Colorado where I have been a customer of theirs for TWENTY ONE straight years with never a missed payment. I have qualified for this plan for thirteen years but all I have ever gotten back from them is... 'we can't offer you this plan because it doesn't appear on your account' ! I call this total garbage ! Verizon is discriminating against us if we do not live in Florida, Illinois, Missouri and... Detroit! What gives?

The plan is suppose to be available in Illinois but no where on the website when signed into your account is there an option to change over to the 55 plus plan for a Illinois residence. Contacted the customer service and after 30-40 minute wait time was told YES Illinois residence do qualify just dial *611 on your phone and ask for the "55 plus team" . I tried it and got no option for this, then right back to automated customer service.. It appears that if this program exist for Illinois residence that Verizon is making it near impossible to sign up for it...

MerleBuss,
Getting great plans at a great price is a big deal. We want to make sure you can get the best options. I can confirm however that this plan currently is not available in Illinois. I apologize for the confusion over that as you should always get the right information. We do have a wide variety of unlimited options that are available in Illinois though. You can view our options that are available at https://www.verizon.com/plans/unlimited/ .

I guess it’s time for all of us long time loyal Verizon customers who don’t live in Florida to dump them & go to T-Mobile or what of the discount carriers who buy the data etc. from one of the big 3 companies. Verizon could obviously care less about us in spite of all the garbage I’ve seen from their customer service reps in this thread.
