Hi there,
It has come to my attention that I may be getting charged more than I should be for surcharges on my phone line. The line in question is part of a family plan with 8 other lines of service. Looking back at my previous bills, this issue has been recurring since November 2015 when I moved to a different county. I have since moved back to the county in which I lived before and have always kept the service address for my particular line up to date.
To demonstrate what's going on, the surcharges for my line on our November 2016 statement total $6.76 from 10 different surcharges as shown below (FYI - I live in Phoenix, AZ):
When I enter my address into the taxes and surcharges estimator on VZW's website (the same service address that has been linked to my phone line), I see the following:
What is causing the 3 extra surcharges (AZ Trans Priv Surchg, Maricopa Cnty Trans Priv Surch, Phoenix City Trans Priv Surchg), and can I be refunded for the error? There is one other line on our account that has the same service address and that line does not have the extra surcharges like mine does.
Thank you,
Salvador

I understand your concerns with the different taxes and surcharges for your specific line on your wireless account. I want to ensure this billing concern is properly addressed for you. However, we would need to review your account details. Please reach out to us via one of our Social Media channels http://vz.to/2gcH5U7 for further support.

if you don't want to go via one of the social media channels, you can call Customer Care at 800-922-0204. when the robotic voice asks what you want, say "customer service." That should get you to a live agent who can go over your surcharges with you and help figure out what is going on. You will need to explain clearly that this one line bills separately.
Customer Care is open from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Central Time Monday
- Thursday, and from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Central time Friday - Sunday.

Taxes and surcharges are assessed based on the service address listed for a line. This can all be managed on the website or app. Here is a link with steps on how to do just that: http://spr.ly/66063n1uo;
Please let me know once this is fixed and if the issue persists on the following billing statement.

This was not fixed. I have spoken to customer care numerous times and no one can tell me what the extra charges are for.

I am having a similar issue on 1 of 5 phones on our account. A device was replaced in April 2022, on the 1st bill and every bill since we have been assessed 3 separate AZ surcharges on 1 of 5 phones. The phone was purchased, billed and used in MN, not AZ. I have contacted customer service about 4 or 5 times related to this and it is still unresolved almost a year later. Today I was told it was my problem, Verizon cannot do anything about surcharges as they are simply being passed onto the consumer on their bill by the taxing agencies.
