I have been a Verizon Mobile and Fios customer for years. I recently upgraded my FIOS service and was able to lower my bill. The sales rep told me that being my wife is a teacher, we can get additional discounts for both our Mobile and FIOS services. However, I had to wait until installation was complete (new router, set-top boxes, etc). When attempting to apply for the discount, mobile was a quick signup and process. When I try the same process with FIOS, my bill increases $54 per month with the teachers discount. The Customer Service Rep was not able to help, which I'm finding is the case lately.

There seems to be a misperception with some Verizon employees, or maybe they're trying to get their commission if it's the salespeople. But the reason why your bill is going up instead of down with this new "discount" is because discounts aren't "stackable". You probably had a loyalty discount or an autopay discount before and when they changed your discount to the teacher discount, it's less than what the loyalty or whatever discount you had before. Good luck with trying to get it put back the way it was before. Have heard stories of others wrangling for a while to get it fixed.
