Verizon store with no sim card?

My iphone 13 pro max started having a problem with the sim card and indicates that none are inserted (sometimes for an hour and sometimes for a day). I removed the sim card and turned off the phone for 5min (performed this step multiple times) and sometimes that resolves the problem. Other times I reset my network from the phone and that also sometimes resolves the problem (Although you lose some pre-saved configurations).

So I did what any customer would do and went to visit a store to resolve the problem. However, 2 stores told me they ran out of sim cards! Is it possible that 2 local stores "magically" ran out of SIM CARDS!? or is it a plan to push me to purchase a new phone (honest queston)? The 2 stores are in northern virginia.

This is an update:

So I went to a third store (large one in a large mall in Northern Virginia) and the Verizon employee recognized the issue and then offered to fix the problem (My wife has the samer issue) for a low-low price of $40 each sim card (lolol). Which I refused.  So he gave us the "family and friends" discount to fix our problem for a total of $40 and we pay cash (He specifically said "cash" to take advantage of his employee discount (GTFO))

On the online front, I received a total of 5 different messages from 5 different bots (no shot these are real people) to which I replied to 3 (I realized by the 4th message that these are bots). I indicated that 'hey call me, you are verizon and have my number', but alas bots were not actually trained to help customers.

Also forgot to mention (my bad) that before I even went to the store, I used the "chat" function with an average response time of 5 minutes for every message/response I provided (hey how can we help you - bla bla bla - 5 minute wait time - can you provide this/that info - provide info - 5 minute wait time - etc). Took about 30min to do nothing.

Long story short: Problem not fixed, verizon never called and use bots to respond, and will be switching to another carrier.

What’s interesting is that my phones are close to being paid off.  I have been all of a sudden receiving the SIM card message and my daughter’s phone mysteriously received that message.  Come on Verizon, I have been a loyal customer for many years.  Can you please treat your customers better.  Do better Verizon.

We're sorry to read about the issue with your devices. Did you make any changes to your account? Do you still have service?  ~Peter

This is extremely dangerous to just lose service (No SIM = no calls in or out and no text capibilty.  Verizon, why is this happening?

Newer iPhones have eSIM capability, as do newer Samsung phones and nearly all Google Pixel phones.  There are lesser known brands which also support eSIM.

Hi Synth, I am aware of the eSim and what I ended up doing is youtubing how to do it myself and it works now with no issues (In case anyone is interested: You need 2 phones to do the steps and it took maybe 5-10 min to do). For the +20 years of having a phone, in different continents and different carriers, i NEVER had a sim problem.

My problem is that when you go to multiple strores for a large company such as Verizon (stores located in their busiest areas/malls) for a problem that turns out has a simple solution, not getting help, or getting punted to different stores is not good. You have to think of: Today they do this for X, tomorrow is for Y, and soon they will just ask you to troubleshoot everything youself...

I pay so that I dont have to do certain things, to delegate tasks, or to transfer trouble shooting to somone else. It is safe to say that it is a true statement for almost everyone: We pick companies we want to use that have good/great service.

Finally, if someone (not targeted to you Synth) is reading this and is the type of ppl with the mindset "well you just like ppl to do things for you, why dont you do it yourself" spare me. As noted in my comments, I tried different solutions before going to the stores. Also, I dont see myself getting iron ore from a mountain, discovering rubber, creating transistors, and digging the ground for oil to make plastic ==> to build a phone/sim. You just go buy it and then take it to the store when you run into problems you cant figure out by yourself the first couple of hours.
