WHY was I charged 25 bucks to activate a new phone? I have NEVER gotten an upgrade nor missed a payment in over 12 years

I believe this company doesn't care about individuals - My droid pretty much died (screen would lock up) so I got an IPHONE and took it to the Verizon store - They charged me 25 bucks to transfer the data [removed]--- I pay about 100 per month for nothing extraordinary. I live in the country and Verizon seems to have the best reception --- I think they [removed]

There is now an upgrade fee and has been since April 2012. However, that cost doesn't sound like the correct amount. Did you visit a corporate store or third party retailer? What was the address of the store you visited?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The upgrade fee is $30 and has been around for 6 1/2 years. sound like you went to third party and got charged for moving data not activating

It's worrying to see that you were charged $25.00 for transferring your data into your new device. We value your over 12 years of loyalty. We will be glad to clarify all of your concerns especially because you had to upgrade your device since your Droid stopped working. Could you please provide us with the address of the store that you attended to? Were you able to successfully activate your device and transfer your data?

The upgrade fee has been $40 for 2 year contract before it was retired and now a steady $30 for both activation and upgrades on device payment. It's always been there. Verizon doesn't charge a $25 fee for anything. You got ripped off by a retailer.

Thank you for your loyalty these 12 years. The upgrade fee is a one-time charge for changing to a new device on the Verizon network. Check valuable information here and let us know if you have additional questions.
