Why Am I being throttled back on my internet?

I'm going to be clear here because I'm not going to go out of my way to find this forum and post this for no reason. AT&T didn't do this, they just gave me terrible customer service.

My cell phone works absolutely fine in my home town on file with Verizon, not a single issue with internet or cell service. The minute I travel on business, I have nothing but issues with internet service. I can call or text just fine, but even with 5 bars, my internet can't load anything. The minute I travel back into my home town, my internet service magically starts working. This isn't a hardware issue, this is obvious a service issue that didn't occur before when I first got to Verizon.

You guys are obviously throttling my service and it needs to stop. Many people have reported this. It's sad people had to report this to get it resolved.  If I have to deal with the issues like as this, I might as well go back to AT&T and deal with their terrible customer service. At least their service worked and is cheaper.

Hello, dotcom02, thanks for reaching out regarding data usage. When did you start having an issue with using data while traveling? Is this happening when traveling to certain places or no matter where you go? You mentioned that you are unable to load anything. When traveling, are you unable to use data at all unless connected to WiFi?

I’ve been throttled on my mobile hotspot for the last couple of weeks now. I have 130GB of hotspot data per month and I barely hit 20gb this month cause it’s running at 0.2 mbps. I haven’t even hit my unlimited data plans 30gb of hotspot data limit either but yet I’m getting throttle. I’ve called Verizon 4 times the past couple of weeks with each call being over 2hrs and still nothing has changed…I can’t afford to spend all day talking to reps and repeating the same steps with no solution. It’s clearly Verizon throttling my hotspot account for no reason. I haven’t even used 10% of my data limit.  It’s not my devices, and to clearly paint that picture Verizon…I went to a friends house with the same Verizon plan as me and we connected to my hotspot & ran a speed test then connected to his hotspot and ran a Speedtest. Hmmmm so why is mine running at 0.49 mbps and his is running at 5+ mbps…(his phone is older too) stop throttling me! So frustrating

VsOrbit, I've heard something about Verizon not wanting people to move "fixed wireless" internet devices from one city to another for some reason.  My guess is your hotspot was originally registered to a different service address than where you're trying to use it now.  Per the link below, if you scroll to the section on hotspots, it says domestic data roaming runs at 2G speeds.
