Approximately 4 weeks ago the signal strength within my residence suddenly decreased to the point that calls frequently failed in mid conversation or never connected in the first place. This was after over seven years of absolutely perfect service! The problem is definitely not an issue with my specific phone since it affects my wife's phone, the phone of any Verizon customer who visits our house, and the phones of neighbors with Verizon service. I can still use my phone reliably if I stand outside my house. I've spent hours with Verizon personnel attempting to regain the service I'm still paying for. After contacting several support personnel, I finally found one who was helpful enough to submit trouble ticket NRB00000978473. A few days later, on April 24, I received a text message stating "Your reported service issue has been resolved. Please retry your service". I did, and absolutely nothing had changed. The reported service issue was actually not resolved at all. I responded to the text message (theoretically) letting Verizon know that the problem persisted, but never received any indication that a live person was on the receiving end of my response. My most recent phone conversation with Verizon support personnel (while standing outside my house) only resulted in being put on hold for a half hour. The closest I've come for an explanation for the loss of tower signal came from an employee at the local Verizon store who suggested Verizon may be switching out their tower equipment to move toward 5G service. I hope that this isn't the actual reason for the sudden drop in signal strength because it would mean that issue is not caused by equipment failure, but but rather a corporate decision. In other words, not likely to be fixed any time soon.

Wow! What an amazingly vacuous response by vzw_customer_support. I came here to see why I can't call my wife when she's sitting next to me on the couch but I can call her from work. But if this is any indication of the quality of response, I'm not going to bother. Bye.

mike639,
I'm definitely sorry to hear you're having issues using your phone at home. You deserve service you can count on. We're always glad to help. What happens when you try to call your wife at home? When did you start having issues like this? What happens if she tries to call you instead?

It's not just inside the house! Why not tell us the truth? Signal has dropped since the other carriers are giving better signal!

I understand having a reliable signal is important for you, joelane16. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and we certainly want to look into this further. To clarify, are you experiencing any issues with data, calls, or text messages?

Not guaranteed indoors ? Too funny to fall back onto contract terms customer service agent.
How about change the map that is spray onto every commercial saying best this and that but follow up and say only outdoors.
Smyrna, TN where Nissan manufactures automobiles for North America has poor service. 1 mile from the factory you will drop calls even outdoors well not so if inside your vehicle counts. I need to crack the window before I can complain.
Verizon has slowed service for all 3G and 4G device per the Verizon tower tech I talked with today. He did not want to disclose why but users are not stupid. We know our device as we live on them for business and personal.
Wished there was a better option for us all to have just to get a simple call and not drop it. Indoors or outdoors.

Ha! You have him a very corporate answer! In other words you didn't answer anything, you basically told him to bend over! You act like it's our fault but I guarantee your swarmy sales people did bother emphasizing that Verizon"doesn't guarantee service indoors", and YES, that should be emphasized! What kind of person buys a dang cell phone to use only outdoors?! If the problem did not exist before then it is YOUR problem. We buy a product based on our ability to use it. I throw out food that goes bad and if it goes bad repeatedly, do you know what I'd do? Stop Buying It! I am through being price gouged by Verizon! We pay $300 a month for our unlimited everything on 3 phones and an iPad. Guess what unlimited Nothing still terrible! I am willing to bet that if we all upgraded to their new iPhone 12 things would probably start working or let them sell us some new service concentrator for only $20 a month more with a two year new contract blah blah blah! heck, my neighbor has an iphone7 and straight talk and her service is better. I guess I'm going to go Stand OutSide In the Pouring Rain and 35 Degree and see about just CANCELLING Veerizon

Pbassham, we certainly want you to get the working service you deserve and pay for. Standing in the rain is not ideal of course. Buying a new iPhone isn't going to change anything here and we want to focus on realistic solutions for you.
Do you currently have Wi-Fi at your home location? What make and model phone do you have?

@teesee824, my snarky post was directed to the vz rep with the canned response and feigned concern. I share your struggle.

I already posted my zip code in my first response to a Verizon rep, so once again it is 37051. I have also posted on our community FB page about the issue and been in contact with neighbors. Many of us are experiencing noticeable degradation of our service. The issue started a couple of months ago.

Without reading all the post...has anyone received any real answers or solutions from verizon? I have also been fighting this for the past several months. We have been with verizon for years and the service has always been superb but several months ago something changed drastically. I have heard that sometimes companies lose agreements on towers that can affect service. My problem isn't just in my house its practically my entire neighborhood. Majority of the time my phone stays in "extended network". I even have to leave my phone in spot in the house and talk with my AirPods but still drop calls.
Ive just about lost all patients with this service.
Why spend almost $300 on something we can barely use?

Jkilner, we're so sorry to hear about the service issues you've been experiencing the last couple of months. We know it's important to have reliable service, and we absolutely want to ensure that we do everything possible to help.
Please tell us, what is your zip code? How far do you have to travel before service improves? Are texts and data also impacted?
