I have incredible Verizon WifiFi Overages. When I started with the account, we never went to 5 and had it for several years. Then we upgraded to the new 4G Lite (even though after we realized we didn't have it in my area). Then the Wifi started creeping up in usage....and we updated the usage in our plan. Verizon had no idea why our usage continued to rise - of course always thought it was us uploading some info. Absolutely nothing had changed at all with our usage.
Now it's over twice! What can I do? When I went to the Verizon store they didn't even offer to do anything. (I'll never go there again for assistance). Seems like there's lot of complaints.

I think you mean that your cellular data usage has increased and resulted in overages ... Verizon doesn't charge you for using wi-fi. And even though your area may not currently have 4G LTE, it should soon (by the end of the year at the latest, more than likely this summer).
But speaking of wi-fi ... have you ensured that your phones are using wi-fi whenever possible and that apps are set to update over wi-fi? Depending on the phone you have and its operating system, you may be able to check data usage on the phone and set an alert when it approaches your set limit.

+ 1 For wi-fi,, i think you need to do as tiki pointed out make sure which is your Cellular Data symbol and your wi-fi Data symbol as you don't get overage charges when using wi-fi..
By the way the wi-fi symbol on our phone usually look like this..

A) Verizon doesn't charge for wi-fi.
B) No such thing as 4G Lite. You mean LTE and you don't "upgrade" to it. If you have it in your area and you have a 4G device you have it. There isn't a "4G LTE" specific data plan.
C) how can you be so sure that Verizon is overcharging you when you don't even understand the terminology?

That's the standard practice. When in doubt about what the H is going on, it's always the other party's fault.

Give me a break. So its mi-fi instead of wi-fi. Im just trying to find out why my usage has increased from 5Gigabytes to over 10 gigabytes as soon as I increased my plan. Went to the local store and got no answers. Not trying to blame anyone but you sound like you might be one of the useless people in the Verizon store that knows all of the terminology but cant offer any answers.

No one can give you an answer with any info. And it's not only wi-fi you got wrong. 4G Lite? What is that? The point is if you don't know what you're talking about then it's very likely you are are also doing something that is increasing your data usage even though you claim you're not doing anything different. No one knows what you are doing or how you have you have your mi-fi set up so how can anyone answer you?

Are you the typo police or what? I have a 4G LTE device so that I can get internet at my business. I have used it for 3 years for business use such as quickbooks, ordering parts and viewing schematics. I dont watch movies or listen to music or play games. I started with a 5 gigabyte plan that was fine for the first year and then started moving up towards the 5 gigabyte limit after 2 years. I went up to a 10 gigabyte plan this year and the very first month I went from 5 gigabyte usage to my limit of 10 gigabytes. I am in a rural place with nobody near enough to use it. I dont know what could make it go up that dramatically. Anyway, I am not claiming to know all of the terminology, different devices and products that are out there and I certainly make plenty of typo's and obviously so do you. So if you have any ideas of what may cause this kind of increase in usage I would love to hear it. If I was not clear enough or called something different than what it is or made a typo SORRY. But i'm sure you will point it out anyway.

You are just not going to give up on the 4G LiTE 4G LTE thing are you? Oh well, I guess I will just have to wave the white flag because you cannot get past it. I am walking away with a lot more education on MB and GB and 4G LTE and Wi-Fi and Mi-Fi and how many Megabytes = a Gigabyte. I think I may now be qualified to work in a Verizon store now. Thanks for all of your help.

Isn't there something on the mifi that you can look at to see what MAC or IP is using what kind of data? Is your mifi secured to the point that others in your area are not using it?

I suspect most people with these data issues either have no security of have some default security and password they never bothered to change. Or they use more data that they think. After all most don't know a MB from a GB. I read a complaint form someone that was shocked that they went though their data when they "only" watched 1-2 hours of Netflix a day. Another guy complained that there was no way he used more than 2 GB in a month just streaming his music all night long while he sleeps.

I understand. I will look into changing the password for my wifi.
I've never watched a movie on my computer or downloaded music. We only use the internet for email and occasional looking up something.
I admit I don't really know a MB from a GB unless I look it up to remind myself. I'm certainly not claiming to know much about computers or internet usage. I do know that my internet usage hasn't changed at all, but my usage (according to Verizon Wireless) has more than doubled. This happened after the Verizon Rep advised me to get the new 4GLTE wifi because it would help with better internet in my area (which I found out is not even available in my area yet).
