i upgraded to 4gb last month and now I'm about to exceed that? I have never used more than 3 gb in my history. My usage has not changed, so why am I going through so much data all of a sudden?

I definitely understand your frustration. We want you to be in control of your data at all times. My Verizon has a great tool called the Data Utilization Tool that is great way to view the categories your data usage falls into. http://vz.to/1QMPsLG

Have you went in to Settings to see what apps are using the data? Click on Data Usage and scroll down and view the apps data usage. It could possibly be an app you downloaded using an extreme amount of background data.

I had the same problem. I subscribe to the maximum prepaid data usage, 15GB. My monthly plan just renewed today, 9/1/2021 so I should have all of my data. My computer was OFF all night, and when I logged on this morning, 10 percent of my data is already used before I did anything. Something fishy is up and I can't get any resolution or explanation from Verizon. I am convinced they are doing something that causes data to be used up faster than it should.

My experience: Why has my data use exploded?
Google photos made some changes and it ate over 1 GB (of my 4GB plan) in one day. Next day my daughter's phone blew through .5GB - so here we are three days into the new cycle with 60% of our data left. WE DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING - but apps updated and changed settings and background (cellular) data literally skyrocketed. Background data is now restricted, and I'm keeping a very close eye on usage this month.
Disappointing, because I thought with upping to 4GB on the new plan (previously we had 3GB and barely used 2) and with carryover we'd have no data thoughts/worries at all. Just the opposite seems to be happening - and it means watching all updates and checking settings whenever an app updates. UGH.

I used 3gig last month and had my mobile data turned off. When I check my Verizon it says it's from watching videos but I only do that at home on my wifi network. How am I using any data when my mobile data is off

What is wifi assist? I have a Droid Turbo 2 and my "avoid poor connections" setting is off

wifi assist is an iPhone capability and would not apply to your Droid Turbo. Are you positive your device is staying connected to your home wifi? Have you looked in your settings under data usage and checked to see what apps are using cellular data and how much. You may think you are on wifi, but if your phones data usage stats say otherwise, you may not be on wifi as much as you think.

But have my mobile data turned of on my phone if I don't have the wifi on I can't use my apps. I did this to avoid using so much data while using YouTube. But it doesn't seem to matter. Verizon has to get their cut of my data usage.m y phone shows I've only used 1.89g but my Verizon shows 2.86g. how is there a 1gig difference?

Do you have the data cycle set so that they are on the same dates? It is unlikely that the default data cycle which was set when you got the phone is the same as your billing cycle.
