iPhone to android text messages since purchasing new phone

I have tried the solutions stated here - going into my account / device / blocked services / and toggle on then off messages.  Then, I turned my phone off and then turned it back on.

I am still not able to send a text to an android phone.  Also, not able to send out group texts if an android phone is one of the reciepients.

Help please or do I need to go back to the verizon store where I bought the phone.

Hi COS_Ron. Thank you for reaching out about your issue with messaging with Android devices. I apologize as this is a new thread I'm not able to see what steps you're referring to. Not to worry, help is still here. You mentioned this is a new purchase, was the last phone an iPhone as well? If you turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages > iMessage) do you have the same issue? Below that toggle, if you tap Send & Receive is it just your phone number?
